pros and cons
Great quality for the prices, fully protects my surface pro 3.Pros:Great quality, great protection. Leaves access to all ports, and has built in covers for the power button and the volume buttons.Has a cut out for the back facing camera.Easy to install and feels snug in case as well as true to fitAllows multiple viewing angles without the use of the surface pro 3's kickstand (which is what I wanted so my kickstand doesn't wear out)Has a built in stylus holder that is better than the one that came with the surface pro 3's type coverThe bottom flap of the cover lightly magnetizes to the type cover to make it feel more stableCan use the type cover with ESR case in both positions. (Magnetized to screen and not magnetized to screen)Work's well in tablet mode, without type cover attached, just have to fold back cover.Cover doesn't get in the way of screen at all.Makes the surface pro 3 easier to use in lap.Feels like it'll hold up for a long time.Nice packaging.ConsNot super easy to remove the surface pro 3 once installed. (probably a good thing)Doesn't allow access to the microsd card slot as it is a full bodied shell on the back of the surface pro 3.Can't use the surface pro 3 kickstand (I didn't want this option anyway because I don't want to have to rely on my kickstand and therefore wear it out over time). Can't fold type cover back around the cover when trying to get into tablet mode as the type cover will just come off (not a big deal it was made to be removable for a reason).Adds a bit of weight to the surface pro 3. (not a big deal I'd rather it feel more sturdy anyway)So all in all, I'm very pleased, I would highly recommended this!!!!

Poor case, the plastic that goes around the edge ...
Poor case, the plastic that goes around the edge cracked my screen do to it falling half a foot to the floor. Very upset if it weren't for me having the case I'd still have my surface.

Great case, works with type cover, infinitely adjustable kickstand functionality is nice
I got this cover for my Surface Pro 3, and it works great.First, it works with or without the keyboard, and I use the Type Cover, which is thicker than the stock keyboard.Second, I was worried about losing the ability to use the integrated (and cool) clicky kickstand on the back of the Surface, but this cover replaces that functionality with the ability to slide the base of Surface forward and backward to achieve the optimal angle for a particular situation.Third, it's attractive - a flat black slightly ribbed fabric that has an elegant and professional look and feel.If there's a negative it's the stylus holder, which is essentially an afterthought that holds the stylus out to the side using a short elastic tube that is sewn into the case. I rarely use the stylus, so this isn't a big deal for me. Also, the stylus is kind of an afterthought for the Surface Pro 3 anyway, as it is not integrated (physically) so my take is more of them are being lost than are being used. However, I do have my stylus in the holder for now, and it hasn't caused any issues.Bottom line is that this is a great case. It doesn't have a super solution for the stylus, but that would be hard to do in a slim, attractive case, so I'm not taking away any stars. Highly recommended.

Nice, attractive, minimal protection portfolio case with minor issues.
The Case is attractive, well made, and fits the Surface Pro 3 well. There are just a few complaints.First of, the case holds the stylus externally, which could be problematic for some as it protrudes from the case side. The stylus can be snagged or get banged up as a result. The shell that the SP3 is mounted into fits well and has adequate holes for the ports as well as fan vent holes. Unfortunately the SP3's microSD card slot is inaccessible once it is mounted in the case. Also, any case that completely covers the rear of the tablet will reduce the tablet's ability to cool. Like other Aluminum/Magnesium cased devices (e.g. Powerbook/Macbook), the SP3 relies partly on its metallic case to as a heatsink to dissipate heat. I would have liked some additional venting cut or molded into the backing. As for now, when working on CPU intensive projects that generate high amounts of heat, I generally remove the SP3 from the case. The last negative I have with the case is that it does not fold very flat under it self if you wish to use it to write on while in tablet mode. The case material is stiff enough that when folded underneath, it is "springy" - not nice to write on. The only way to get around this is to completely unfold the case across the table, wasting a tablet and a half width of space. All that being said, the tablet in many aspects. The SP3 fits snugly inside of the polycrarbonate shell. It offers various levels of adjustment angle and the cover creates a large flat bottom surface which makes it easier to balance the SP3 on your lap while typing. The case is attractive, thin, has an easy to grip texture on the outside, and soft felt like texture on the inside. The magnetic closure is also perfectly adequate. The ESR New Intelligent Series Sufrace Pro 3 case is good bang for the buck if you are looking for a simple portfolio style case.
