The Secrets of the Lenormand Oracle

I have been studying and working with Sylvie Steinbach's book, "The Secrets of the Lenormand Oracle", since late last Fall. I had been looking for years, for a different system from the Tarot, that would not only compliment the Tarot, but give more detailed insights. I definitely have found that with The Lenormand Oracle! As a way to practice different combinations, and become more familiar with the nuances of these cards,after studying Sylvie's book, and her great virtual workshop (check for link on this page), [...] These cards have out-performed my hopes and expectations as to what is possible in divination with cards...they are phenomenal! The readings that I have done, for friends and family, have brought up funny little details that have been born out. For example: I did a reading for a girlfriend, who was being pushed out of her rental house because her dog had had puppies. She had managed to find good homes to all of them except one, who she ended up keeping. The landlord discovered this, and said "out!"- To find a place, in the middle of winter, to rent, (when you have a few dogs!!) is very very difficult. She asked me to do a reading for her, asking if she would find a 3 bedroom house, with a back yard, reasonable rent, that would accept her dogs? I don't have the specific reading any longer, but I remember that I told her,(following Sylvie's precise methods, that yes, she would find such a house that she would really like, and would stay there for a long time. The cards also said to me that she needed to check out her place of work, look at the bulletin boards, or talk to people she worked with, because she would find the place through a lucky break connected to work. I felt as though, I had put my head on the chopping block with that one! lol My friend also reads for a second income, but couldn't read for herself. Time went by, and then lo and behold! I got an email from her thanking me profusely! She had found the perfect house to rent, with a very kind landlord. It was in a more desirable area, near all the ammenities (she doesn't drive) AND she found out about it through a co-worker at that place of employment, before the house was even listed or emptied of the tenants!! That was a major moment for me as to the power of these funny little cards. You don't need 52 cards or 78 cards to get an incredibly detailed account. You just need The Lenormand cards, and Sylvie Steinbach's book! Sylvie's teaching thread on Aecletic Tarot Forum has been indispensable for taking this beginner to the next level. I can't recommend this teacher, and her specific methods for reading these cards, highly enough! I never thought I would say this, but they run rings around Tarot!! I have been in awe, at some of the insights that have come forth with these cards. If you want to get specifics, and really get to the heart of matters, discover the Lenormand Cards, and Sylvie Steinbach's book- you won't look back! :) SpiritSong~

I am very new to the world of fortune telling, having only purchased my first deck of Lenormand and Tarot cards last month. I instantly felt a connection to the Lenormand Oracle, and wanted to learn as much as I could about the 36 little cards it contained. Sylvie's book is the first text I have read on the subject, and I can gladly say that this book has become my daily companion. 'Secrets of the Lenormand Oracle' provides valuable insights to each of the card meanings, including love, work, money, health, family, friends, and events. It even provides individual meanings for card combinations. She shares her 'freestyle' method where no layout is required, and this helps answer any type of specific question. She explains how the cards can predict a time frame, or even describe the personality or appearance of an individual you are likely to meet in the future. This book is perfect for beginners as it is set out in a way that is easy to understand and refer back to while you're still learning to read the cards. The best part however is that it isn't just a tool for beginners... it opens up a whole new world for immediate and advanced card readers also. Sylvie is more than an author; she is a mentor. And she runs classes for people who want to learn deeper and more extensive meanings than can be provided in any one book. You'd need an entire library to cover it all! But this book is obviously a great place to start. I recommend The Secrets Of The Lenormand Oracle to anyone interested in learning to read Lenormand cards, or anyone who is an experienced reader and would like to learn Sylvie's freestyle method.

I received the lenormand oracle book written by Sylvie Steinbach & i must say what a fabulous book it really is. It contains so much info on each card including meanings,dates,characteristics of a person from each card & rulership of certain parts of the body by each card & card combinations to see. Not to mention examples of readings & layouts at the back of the book. After reading tarot for almost 17yrs i wanted to try the lenormand oracle the cards really spoke to me & also since my mind was already trained with symbolism picking up the meanings to the lenormand cards was sooooooooooo easy. I am glad that i chose this oracle & you cannot get a better book on the cards than sylvie's. If you are new to divination i suggest you start with the lenormand oracle b/c tarot takes a long time to really master what i love about the lenormand cards is that the symbols are all universal & that they make sense in sylvie's book but everyone will develop there own sense of intuition on the cards as time goes by. So don't mess with other books or courses unless it is sylvie's b/c you will confuse yourself to much. So 5 stars to Sylvie Steinbach.......

It's a good book for beginners, but not one to stick with forever. The meanings explored in the book sometimes are very, very limited - even taking into account that Lenormand cards tend to have a narrow scope of meaning as compared to classic tarot, but even them, the combos are too thin for a good reading. It's an excellent tool for those who are experimenting with Lenormand for first time, but one should immediately get something else to add to it. Other than that, Sylvie has really nice insights on layouts and readings that might benefit anyone interested in divination. Lenormand cards are very straightforward and work very well in combination with more "holistic" divination methods such as i-ching or tarot.

This book is excellent! Sylvie gives very detailed information on every card, which is what I love. I mean, DETAILED! Anything you could possibly want to figure out, she tells you how to do it. What makes this book extra special are all the additional resources you have access to in order to help you feel comfortable using Sylvie's method. When I bought the book several weeks ago, I first looked at her free case studies online at aeclectic.net (the direct link: [...]). Sylvie also has an online group where you can post readings, talk about the cards, ask questions....the other readers are very knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and Sylvie is right there answering questions! (The direct link to the group: [...]). Finally, check out the facebook page with the book title, where Sylvie asks and answers questions to inspire becoming more knowledgeable about the deck. I am thrilled with the level of support that goes along with this book and deck. I have found Sylvie and other Lenormand readers to be wonderfully generous of their knowledge and willing to share and help anyone.

There are many Lenormand books that talk about relationships between cards. This book went through what those are. Though I don't see them as set in stone this is very good at showing how cards relate. I liked that a lot with this book. Also, the method of reading is more free form for general questions. That does not fit the typical use but I find it works really well. Not as much emphasis on shuffling if you fan the cards and pick. Not a strong emphasis on card position which feels much more fluid. Found this book to be very helpful.

This book has plenty of useful content. It is however mostly devoted to the author's take on card meanings and card combinations and how they are used in her "no layout" system of using the cards. The organization of the book made it very difficult for me personally to read using her method. In many cases I was uncertain if something referred to a time frame, an attribute or possibly both. I did not know if I should always combine the cards and interpret these meanings (which in many cases did not fit well with the question I posed) or interpret them alone? Towards the end I felt less confident trying to read for myself and was more and more wondering if I was not correctly charging "key" cards (as the author suggests) or possible asking my question the wrong way. I felt as though I was nagging my various Lenormand decks for secrets they simply did not wish to reveal. The book and I were also developing a very co-dependant relationship - I was unable to discern the message of the cards unless it was by my side - so I decided to walk away and continue my quest for understanding elsewhere. I felt that the book made little to no emphasis on the reader attempting to tap into and trust their own intuition which is so vital when reading any oracle, be it Tarot, I-Ching, playing cards, ect... More often than not I felt I must have been doing something wrong which was why I could not coax the Lenormand to reveal the information I sought. I think this book is a fantastic starting point for a beginner with no previous experience or knowlegde of the Lenormand. If you have dabbled in these cards before, it may (or may not) leave you baffled as I was. It is refreshing to see a book in English about this very intriguing little deck of cards. Her introduction explains exactly why she wrote the book and what she wishes to convey, and the rest of the pages deliver the details. She respects theory and tradition, and at the same time seeks to extract meaning in ways that speak to today's clients. Ms. Steinbach explains her methods and rationale in detail and gives people the opportunity to see if her ways work for them, as well. The Lenormand cards are not only charming, they yield deep insights. Until now, there have been few reliable English-language guides to their use, and Ms. Steinbach's work surely heralds a new era in the enduring saga of the Lenormand.

Je recommande ce livre qui est très pertinent concis, simple et clair. C'est mon ouvrage de référence pour les tirages du Lenormand. Il est tout à fait abordable en anglais. Il est le seul à ma connaissance à présenter toutes les combinaisons. (Interprétation selon l'école française) L'auteure est française installée à Los Angeles. On peut donc faire des tirages dès le 1er jour, avec une grande précision! J'ai crains de ne pas le recevoir à cause du transporteur que je recommande pas en revanche...

Libro eccezionale molto dettagliato di facile comprensione. Non ho trovato altri libri come questo. Consigliatissimo. Non proprio per principianti cioè per coloro che si affacciano per la prima volta su questi argomenti.

However, it has been a popular divination tool in Europe, especially in France and Germany, where a lot of books and manuals about the oracle are available - but unfortunatelly they've never been translated. The author is a French Psychic located in Los Angels, who was born in a family of successors to this fine oracle. Her book is revolutionary not only because it is the first manual on how to use the Lenormand deck written in English, but because of her invention of the "No Layout" system. It is totally different from the traditional all-cards spread, it is very flexible, enabling the reader to answer all kinds of questions, and most importantly, is highly accurate. In addition to this truly innovative method, you will be amazed by an eye-opening, updated version of the card definitions and interpretations. The author has such passion for the Lenormand oracle that she shares and teaches her 'secrets' through web forums worldwide. I do not know any other masters who is so generous and passionate as she is. Although, for the moment, the only available resourse in Japan is that tiny booklet that comes with the deck, I am quite confident that her method will win attention here too in the near future.

I bought this book a while ago and I can't believe I forgot to review it. This book is fantastic. It's absolutely jam packed with helpful information to help you get to grips with these cards. Sylvie is a fantastic teacher and a very talented woman all round. I had never ever read or owned Lenormand cards before, so this was a first for me. I bought the Mystical and Sylvie's book SLO, and I'm not lying when I say within under an hour I could do a basic reading with the NO LAYOUT SYSTEM. The no layout system is a quick easy no nonsense way to read. Sylvie's meanings for the cards have been updated somewhat too which I think is a good thing, as this brings the cards into the NOW, and there's nothing wrong with that. I have simply amazed friends with readings. I still have tons of information to learn and I'm sure I will enjoy every moment of this experience. Sylvie gives up her time on forums and radio etc, to help students everywhere to get to grips with this system. Although I don't know her in person, I can say that she is one of the most generous people with her time and patience I have ever known She also does workshops to help people learn this system to which the people that attend think are fantastic. I just wish I could afford to go to one as I think it would be an excellent experience. The last ones I know of have been in New Zealand...lucky people who had the chance to work with her! I can't reccommend this book enough. If you're thinking about it or mulling it over DON'T just go buy it!!! I love it!
