Coffee Bean Direct Decaf Penny Pincher's® Dark Roast, Whole Bean, 5lb Bag

Decent coffee for a really good price. It's a nice dark roast, smooth flavor. I broke the 5# bag into mason jars and sealed them. I do not notice an acidity problem with this coffee. Will be purchasing again.

The package arrived as promised. I grind my own so the first thing I did was break it up into a number of bags to be frozen. The first thing I noticed was the rich, dark color of the beans. I was happy that the bean had been decaffeinated naturally. When it was time I ground up a small portion. I will tell you I was a little surprised by the deep, complexity of the brew, from the satisfying aroma to the smooth finish.

I drink coffee black normally because I love the full rich flavor. I was beyond pleasantly surprised at the delicious, complex flavors in this decaf dark roast blend. To be frank, I'm normally disappointed. I've switched to decaf for health reasons and have struggled to find a bean rich enough to use in my espresso machine that gave me the same level of enjoyment. It's incredibly smooth, rich notes, fresh, and leaves me lingering over the cup for another sip. I LOVE this coffee and I'm so grateful that I can get it in larger quantities at a fair price. This is really good tasting coffee - it replaced my obsession with Starbucks Decaf Verona. I originally made the switch to this coffee when reports on the methylene Chloride used to deaf the Verona coffee came out in the news. This Dark Decaf was priced right as a good value and it's from a relatively small business. I made the wrong assumption that it was water processed Decaf but it is actually processed with methyl chloride (the cheaper method for decaffeination of coffee beans). If that doesn't bother you, then this coffee really does get 5 stars as it is low acidity, smooth, dark, and flavorful. It's not quite as good as Starbucks Verona Dark Decaf but it's a good valued alternative. For me, I'm going to move to a water processed coffee after finishing this 5 pound bag. If you do order, be careful to note that that whole bean and ground versions look identical so you have to read the description and ensure you order the right one.

Terrific flavor without the caffeine. Love it.

This is better than any mainstream coffee you can buy at the supermarket like Folgers, Maxwell House, etc... I have found that it taste best if you set your grinder on medium. Course grinding seems to weaken its flavor and fine grind seems to, well, I don't know other than it just doesn't taste right. On medium grind it is fine and can't be beat for the price.

A good daily brew for decaf. This has become my main coffee and actually not bad run through the espresso machine as well. The bag smells pretty bad, a great thing. Beans are very fresh and for the money, tastes pretty amazing. I'm happy as hell with this product.

I love this brand for whole bean coffee. It’s so hard to find whole bean decaffeinated coffee in the grocery stores. This is now my “go to” for my coffee needs.
