This brought me right back to my grandma's kitchen. Very genuine stuff!
I am 57 and live in the US, but I grew up in Europe. My grandmother always had licorice sticks in a jar because she believed it helped her with her stomach issues. I started chewing on them very young (probably around 5?). These were different times. A kid like myself thought it was cool to imagine smoking a cigar like I saw some grownups do. I'm glad that I never transitioned to actual tobacco, but that is not the issue here. Licorice sticks have a peculiar flavor. The negative comments you can read here are true: you are sucking on a stick that slowly turns into a thready pulp. That is why the people who like it like it. If you don't know that this is going to happen, I totally get the negative comments, but this is what licorice sticks are and do. This brand is a genuine item. They are exactly as I remember them from my childhood, and they smell and feel and taste clean and as fresh as a dried piece of stick can be. If you are into this, I highly recommend these. If any of this sounds alien to you, why not give it a go -- it is not expensive, and these really are the real deal! I bought them to break the habit of reaching for snacks or candy while I watch TV, but the flavor and texture brought me straight back to my grandma's kitchen. Whether it helps with the snacking or not, the trip down memory lane alone was worth it for me.

Great product
Value for the money. Helps keep our teeth clean. I chew on it then brush my teeth with it. Leaves my teeth very smooth. Better than an extra soft toothbrush. I like the taste of licorice. It's a natural product. The sticks arrived in a plastic bag.

Cut your own sticks
Large, very long, thick, tasteless sticks …they’re about 4 in. Long and thick like a swisher sweet, and taste exactly like your sucking on any type of tree branch

Inconsistent Quality
Inconsistent quality. Sometimes the sticks are full and long. Other times, they are small and frail. This product is not eligible for return so you are left with what you get. I don’t want to hope the product is good each time I order it. I will start purchasing this product from another store.

Decent taste and not strong or bitter
Ok… if you didn’t grow up on these you wouldn’t like them…. but I did… and these are quite authentic. They aren’t bitter or strong, just a light licorice taste. They’re part of a plant after all, so expect that they’ll taste first and foremost like a dried stick ;). I took out my wire cutters and cut them into 2 inch pieces so they’re easier to graze on…. If you’re new to this… cut them small… chew them until the taste is gone or you’ve had enough of the wet-stringy-weed texture. If you need to masticate in order to manage anxiety and don't want to perpetually eat candy, this is a decent alternative… although I would recommend conventional cinnamon sticks like you put in your tea instead. In either case I recommend brushing your teeth afterward so when you smile you don’t look like you’ve been grazing in your back yard.

Bad Taste
Personally I thought they tasted horrible. I tried to get past it and chew on it for a good several minutes, then I moved to just sucking on it since the wood was very fibrous and started breaking off in my mouth. But I just had to wash my mouth out. Yuck.

Breaking from Tobacco
Son wants more. He says they taste bitter, sweet, and earthy. He says it's excellent for quitting chewing tobacco. I'm having issues with locating the large bag I bought before. I'm only finding the ten bag size.
