Medium Single Wick Candle, Warm Tobacco Pipe,Black,10.35 Oz.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I regularly purchase this candle, but the last time I tried, I was notified it was out of stock. Now it has reappeared from other vendors at TWICE the price I usually pay. So, let the buyer beware. I like the candle, but there's a limit. I have long loved the smell of pipe tobacco, and when I first purchased one of these candles, it filled my studio with that rich, nostalgic aroma. The candle lasted a decent amount of time and I was thrilled with it. I have since reordered twice more, and both candles have been satisfactory. So, if you enjoy the smell of pipe smoke without the risks of actually smoking one, this is a decent alternative.

I love the color, the scent, the jar, everything. It has quite a big wick though and it tends to mushroom. The scent is not overpowering. But it is wonderful. A soft, sweet tobacco scent.

My father smoked a pipe when I was a kid and the smell (not the smoke) was just amazing. This candle smells just like that and without the smoke. The smell is not just nostalgic but perfect for my man cave area. It is a masculine smell but I actually first learned of this candle from my mother-in-law and she uses it in her rec room. So, it can be used in many places. It burns well and lasts over 30 hours.

So I'm mostly a fan of this candle. I'd say it's worth four stars. Here are some notes... The most important thing to me when it comes to scented candles is the safety/health aspect of things. If it is going to give you el cancer, it doesn't matter how lovely it smells, now does it? While I do not know the ingredients of this particular blend (except that it's made with Soy Wax, which is far less carcinogenic than, say, Paraffin) I will say that my instincts are pretty good about these things. When something is bad for my body, I feel a certain subtle physical hesitation. With the scent of this candle, I barely if at all feel any such thing. If you want to be safe, burn this (or any scented candle) in a medium or larger-sized room with good ventilation. Now about the scent itself - I bought some actual pipe-Tobacco the same day I received this candle and had advantage to compare them side-by-side. The brand is "Captain Black Regular," an aromatic blend. For the record, I don't actually *smoke* anything, but Tobacco has its uses in my spiritual practice as a purifying incense/smudge (outdoors only.) The subtler, more 'matured' Tobacco scent I get from the plastic wrapper of the actual Tobacco has just slightly more 'edge' to it than this candle, but they're comparably smooth, rich aromas. Of course, fresh/new 'Captain Black' smells like syrup and Molasses, hence I'm comparing the candle to the more desirable, mellow end of the Tobacco. I can see what the reviewer who said this stuff "smells like baby-powder" was talking about, but I don't think I would have thought that myself had someone else not said it first. If you are expecting a smell that will knock you over within 30 seconds of lighting, this is not your candle. Fortunately I am not that person. Given about ten minutes, the aroma of this candle gently permeates the air of my apartment, although I have a window open to increase circulation. Otherwise the scent-throw might not reach very far. I did not experience the thick, black smoke coating the walls near the candle as did at least one other reviewer here, but the wick had already been trimmed to 1/4" when I got it. I was a bit wary of the core I noticed in the wick, but I scraped it across a piece of paper to test for the dreaded grey streaking (which is a sign of lead) and there doesn't appear to be any. It's probably a Zinc core. It smokes noticeably when the wick is first lit (not just the initial lighting, but every subsequent one as well,) but that subsides within about ten seconds. Just try not to inhale deeply or be standing underneath a smoke detector during that time. When blowing it out, give it a good hearty 'gust,' so that the cinder in the wick goes out faster and causes less smoke. I also like the "black glass" look of the jar. It's classy AF. If you have a 'man-cave,' it would probably lend itself nicely to the decorum without keeping you up at night wondering if your having a scented candle counts against your masculinity. Yes, I am mocking you. You're welcome. ^__^ One thing that does detract from my opinion of this product is the diameter and the implications it has for wax-usage. The wax is just a bit wider than the heat from the flame will melt, leaving about a quarter inch of waste-wax around the edges. When you think of that as being true in all four basic directions, that means there's a full inch of wax that just won't be used by this candle. For that, I subtract one star. Then again, I make candles, so I may just scrape-out the remnants with a plastic spoon, melt them down with more Soy Wax and re-pour it into a smaller container, and maybe use this nicely-tinted container to store my actual Tobacco when it's finished burning. Overall, I say four out of five stars for this candle. Considering how wary I am of scented candles, that should probably be worth a lot.

Why are you (Amazon) selling this candle for 32.00??? Double the price DM sells this for, I wish I would!!!! Marshall use to sell it for 9.00. I gave it 5 stars because it's a good smelling candle, I give it 1 star for the price!!!!!

I used to love this brand, but not anymore. It burns unevenly and no longer has the scent I originally liked. It used to last me about a month, and now it burns out within a week. Definitely not buying it again.

Everyone hates the smell of cigarettes, but pipe tobacco was always amazing. This candle gives you that great smell without having to smoke a pipe. Win win situation.

Great smell. I wish it lasted longer.
