Used with a Jacuzzi J-355 Tub
I, obviously, had a bad circulation pump in my Jacuzzi J-355 Hot Tub. I've used Grundfos pumps in other, industrial, applications and decided to look in to seeing whether or not they sold a pump that would work with my Jacuzzi. After a little bit of research, I found that many experts actually suggest switching to the Grundfos pump when replacing their circulation pump. I was able to cross reference part numbers and found this on Amazon for roughly half the price of the OEM version. Now, I want to point out that this particular pump is not a direct fit replacement for my particular model Jacuzzi; the barbs are 1 inch rather than the stock 3/4.'" This was realized upon purchasing this, so I knew going in that I was going to have to modify the plumbing a bit. Grundfos does have a 3/4" barb model, but I wasn't able to locate it on Amazon and the retailer where I did locate it was pretty high in price. Anyway, the plumbing modifications that I made to make this work was using a reducer from 1" to 3/4." I cut back the 3/4" tube quite a bit to leave me room to install a shutoff valve and run 1" hose to the pump. I did the same to the output side, running to the heater (minus the shutoff.) While switching out the pumps, it will be handy to have some wine corks available to jam into the hose, that way you do not need to drain the tub. All in all, it was pretty straight forward with hooking everything up, including the wiring. The only other slight modification you'll need to figure out is the use of a mounting bracket. I used the original one and made it work. I have had it installed for a couple weeks now and so far it's been working well.

probably it's fine
but we cant figure out why it stopped working. Does it need to be positioned a certain way? (as in for venting holes or something? - we ensured it is horizontal, but is there something more - is that square controller thing shown on the graphic above to be sideways OK to be down? Secondly, Is it a problem that we took out the previous model and mated the grundfos to the other larger size pipes. - it worked, then it stopped, then it worked, then it stopped. Right now the old pump is back in.

working good
seem strait forward to wiring up. it is a 230v. ground is green and the two white wires are hot.runs really silent, but runs hot has u can see in pic. not sure how long it will last being that hot. Looks like it cool down . And is running really well now so I did boost it up to five stars. it is in a 2003 sundance capri 3 man hot tub. so happy to have her running.

Grundfos for the win!
Our older circ pump went out and I needed to replace it. This pump is AWESOME! Super easy to wire, and it came with the mounting plate as well. It feels like it puts out a little more flow than our old 115 vac model, but that could be because it's new and working correctly. All in all, perfect replacement! removed the old unit, crimped two new ends on the new one and away we went. Total time for replacement was under 10 minutes.

Unfortunately, It Doesn't Last
This is the only 220 volt pump I could find for my solar spa set-up on my Sundance Spa. I'm now on my 4th pump in the last few years (3-4). Seems like it last around 12-18 months before the bearings give out and the unit overheats. Not up to Grundfos standards in my experience. Some of my Grundfos pumps are going on their 20th year, but not this little guy. Unfortunately, I couldn't find another replacement, so I continue ordering another hoping it will last a little longer.
