How high do they come? Past ankle?

They come above the ankle. They are definitely a boot and not a shoe. Best walking boots I've ever had👍

Any advice on how to re-waterproof the boots once the waterproofing stops?

whenever I buy new boots, before the first wear, I always spray them with waterproofing stuff you can get in any shoe shop. once the boots are old, or have any dirt on them the spraying will be less effective as the unground dirt breaches the barrier somehow. so I would suggest if you have older boots, give them a very very good deep clean, wait for them to dry and then spray with waterproofer.
