Dawn Enterprises HM-CHER14 High Body Side Molding Compatible with Jeep Grand Cherokee - Billet Silver Metallic (PSC)

I needed some body side molding for my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I chose the silver moldings and they arrived fast in a sturdy core with cornerboard attached. No damage during transit!I measured and ran a line of tape down both sides like the enclosed instructions described. I cleaned the area with the enclosed alcohol pads and used one tube of surface promoter (two included). After waiting two minutes I peeled back 12 inches of the red 3M tape backing and slowly applied the molding. If you watch your tape line carefully you can use one hand to adjust the molding up or down and the other hand to press it on. The adjusting hand should also be holding the molding off of the surface as you work along the tape line. Peel off the red backing tape as you go along. Don't forget to mark the starting points between the doors as described in the instructions. This is the area I started in and worked my way along the tape line.The molding looks great and the color match is very good. The only negative I experienced was that one of the two surface promoter capsules was broken before shipping. I had to wipe the passenger side with lacquer thinner before applying the molding on that side.I am very pleased with how the molding looks.

I rarely do reviews, so you know I’m impressed. I needed the protection of body side mouldings on my new Jeep Grand Cherokee, but I didn’t like the look of the OEM chrome ones. I found these on Amazon and gave them a try. It was a good decision! Nice fit, simple install, and very good color match to my Billet Silver paint color. With only four pieces this is not a difficult task, but I made it easier; rather than measure as was suggested in the instructions, I simply ran a thin strip of blue painters tape from front to back, carefully along the top edge of the lower body crease. I measured the distance between area where doors meet (below B-pillar) and marked those too. Then its a simple install using the bottom of my tape line as a guide.* Be sure to prep the surface first. The kit includes two alcohol prep pads, but I used 3M automotive adhesive remover and a shop rag. It takes off anything that might mitigate the moulding correctly sticking to the surface.If your want the protection but don’t want to add unnecessary chrome, give these a try. I’m checking to see if they make a kit for my Subaru too.

If you are OC about your vehicle, note that these moldings are not perfectly straight. Being the soft material they are, if you hold them up with the tape side either left or right and look down the edge as you would looking down a piece of wood, you will notice the molding has bends up and down. I straightened them out as best I could. Once mounted, eyeballing at molding level from the front or rear bumper, you will still see some ripples but casually looking at the vehicle standing, you will not notice it. Tip for the manufacturer, use less tape to glue them to the cardboard backing. They were a pain to remove. Also, the color was not as close as I expected but not bad enough to send back. Before you start installation, check some things on your vehicle. My Grand Cherokee had the left door "Grand Cherokee" emblem misapplied at the factory. The "Grand" was not aligned with the "Cherokee". This may have an affect on the space you have from the emblem up to the body seam. My right front door was misaligned with the rear door. So you have a choice of either letting the dealership attempt to align the door before you install the molding, or have the molding angle slightly to meet the rear molding. I wish I had used the method of backing tape removal where you start the backing off the tape at the front, rear and center and flip the backing over and up and temp install then when ready pull the backing along the molding to final install. I think that might have been easier. The final result worth it if it saves me door dings and another call the my favorite paintless dent repair guy.

Very happy with the fit, finish and function. Would highly recommend this product and buy again for future vehicles.

These arrived attached back to back on a piece of cardboard and then shrinkwrapped inside a super sturdy tube. I appreciated the care taken to ensure that they arrived undamaged. They were easy to install if you take your time and follow the instructions. While I did a thorough job of prepping the surface of my Jeep I did not use the two tubes of adhesion promotor that were provided. I've found it too aggressive on my paint in the past and have found the 3M tape that was used on these to be more than sufficient. Finally, I have pearlescent white tri-coat paint which is notoriously difficult to match and I have to say I've got no issues with the match on these. Very happy customer.
