Will this take over black hair just for highlights

No. Ideally you want the hair bleached to lightest blonde before applying toners like this. First you need to bleach the areas with the correct volume of cream peroxide (recommend 9% for black) and blue powder bleach mix - search internet for correct time and method. If your hair is *dyed* black the bleach will only lift to dark orange, natural black will lift better but result will still be brassy yellow. If you want silver you need to completely grow out black dye before attempting as the amount of bleaching required on it would make your hair break to bits.

Hi Lisa, unfortunately this product did not work for me. I am bright blonde and no results at all. I think it may depend on both your shade of blonde and the colour care developer used. I would consult a professional hairstylist before making another purchase.
