BLU R2 Plus 2019-6.2” HD+ Display Smartphone, 16GB+2GB RAM –Silver

FEATURES: Amazing considering the BLU R2 Plus 2019 (also known as the BLU Vivo One Plus 2019) is this inexpensive. The screen, fingerprint sensor, and build quality are phenomenal. The screen in particular is quite nice, with a PPI of 267, it has what apple calls a "retina" display. The glass on the screen feels amazing once you take off the included screen protector. Fingerprint unlock works great, while face unlock isn't as dependable. The cameras are okay, not terrible, but definitely not amazing either. It also comes with a cheap phone case which is always appreciated. The only downside is performance, which isn't all that noticeable unless you play games on your phone. I've tested multiple applications, and all of them run quite favorably. The only 2D app that ran slow in my testing was Facebook, but this can be combated by simply using Facebook Lite instead. Youtube, Discord, Reddit, Amazon, Spotify, Pandora, etc. all ran just fine, with no problems. The accelerate button above the volume rocker helped out tremendously any time the phone started to feel a little slow. However, I have to re-iterate that 3D games do not run well on this phone. BATTERY: In my testing, the BLU R2 Plus 2019's battery life ran anywhere between 10-14 hours, depending on use. Something to be taken into consideration if you find yourself frequently far away from an available Micro-USB charger. In conclusion, this will regularly get mistaken for a 500-600$ phone, and considering the BLU R2 Plus 2019 price, and that's quite an achievement.

After my old phone broke and I attempted to repair it myself, I finally had to break down and get a new smart phone because the flip-phone I had in the mean time just wasn't cutting it. I teach online and was using my large phone screen to show some props (videos, graphics, flash cards) during class via Google Slide and really missed doing that. The BLU R2 Plus 2019-6.2” HD+ Display Smartphone genuinely has an excellent display that allows me to use it to share slides. Camera is great quality, but SLOW. I taught my 2 year old how to hold chopsticks and I wanted a shot of her being a big girl. Mind you, my child is a slow, concise eater. Well, I pressed the shutter button as she raised the chopstick to her mouth. The perfect shot! But nope. The capture speed was so slow that the shot is actually of her reaching for another bite and looking down. That many seconds is just to sloooow for this camera to really capture any important moments in a timely fashion. I was extremely impressed with the quality of this phone. It comes with a clear gel cover. Nice, because the silver back quickly gets finger prints. I can get over my issues with the camera because, honestly, I prefer my Nikon. No cell phone can truly compare to a "real" camera. This is my first time purchasing a non-name brand phone and I would do it again because of how great the Blu R2 Plus is overall.

UPDATE: Blu should truly be ashamed of themselves. the crank out these poorly made phones with horrible specs, and then use fancy graphic design to upsell their ****. DO NOT BUY BLU PHONES! I knew better but my an impulse buy because of their flash sale. I hate my phone EVERYDAY! the alarm sounds horrible and the "dismiss" button does not work. I have to press it over and over again. One thing that is my fault is how big the phone is. I keep telling myself I will get use to the size, but I just cant! I HATE IT. Today, I brought an android phone of ANOTHER BRAND! I will forever hate Blu and speak against them! Their should be some sort of law about quality control in the free market! its FRUAD to crank out junk-electronics and call this real technology! DO NOT BUY BLU PHONES! DO NOT BUY BLU PHONES! DO NOT BUY BLU PHONES! Instagram, facebook and youtube have been a great experience on the phone. The phone has decently fast internet and data. Not a big fan of android9used to have an iphone) but learning and getting used to it. The camera is horrible. right now its winter, so I dont need to take selfies. But when the weather is better, I will buy a new phone. the phone will snap a pciture and actually make it worse. and purposefully blurs the picture, its crazy. and the lighting in pictures is horrible. i dont know if this is the phones fault or android software fault, but when the alarm goes off while in use, the "dismiss" button does not work no matter how I press it. Also, the volume on this phone is horrible. the quality is great. but the volume goes from medium to silent, with no inbetween. I downloaded an equalizer to soften the volume to be quitier, like when im listen to stuff to fall asleep. for me personally, 16gb is fine and the phone speed is fine. This would've been a great phone if it has a good camera. But without a good camera, I will eventually have to buy a new phone.

Having come from an Honor 6X this phone feels like an upgrade in some ways, and a downgrade in others. PROs -Display: it's larger, and is brighter than the former phone I utilized. Video quality seems similar, and a bit better due to the higher brightness. -Fingerprint Sensor: It's on the rear of the device. Makes it similar to my old phone, and I prefer the placement. -Android 8 is good, still getting used to it. CONs -Battery: The battery seems to drain quicker than my old Honor phone. -Adaptive Brightness: Doesn't seem to work properly I have resorted to manually adjusting it as appropriate. -Storage: The internal storage is less, but this is mostly mitigated by the SD card which can be formatted as internal storage. For a budget device it is a good phone, the placement of the charge port is a bit odd being at the top. I have noticed some signal issues inside some buildings but it does allow me to shop in peace.

The name on the listing is incorrect, however the specifications in the description match the phone I received, so I got what I expected for specs, just a different name. Some folks said it was slow, but for 2GB RAM is actually pretty decent. Maybe they use a lot of apps and don't know to close them, but it's easy to close all running apps, and there's an external button to clear background processes too. Very nice. Came with android 8.1.0 and runs smoothly. Only been using it a few days, will update if anything changes. I didn't experience what others said about calls getting muted or you just can't hear. I had clear calls by a 45 mph road, which means people were going over 50. I used a headset while riding my bike, they didn't even know I was moving. Excellent clarity on both ends, no interruptions. I don't understand what people are taking about with ads, I haven't seen anything pop up. I did turn off notifications showing up on the lock screen, though that wasn't at all performance related. I would be surprised if people were confusing those with ads, or maybe I wouldn't be. It's exactly what I expected for $100 and based on the specs listed. One downside that bugs me is the volume doesn't have many increments. People say they can't hear their phone, obviously not typical and they should have exchanged it. If anything it's too loud even on its lowest seeing. I downloaded an app to control volume with more increments, very easy, free and better control than any phone has. Just set the app to 50-80% and then use the external volume buttons like normal. Would be an easy fix for the manufacturer to just add more increments, but whatever. Calls, text, video, games, camera, internet all work well. No connection issues, no lag, no interruptions, the battery life is good so far. If you don't leave apps running, you'll be fine. Just tap the square button at the bottom of the screen tobclear them and the phone will run fine. After reading some of the negative reviews carefully, I'm not surprised they weren't satisfied with this value phone. Maybe they forget how much top-of-the-line phones cost. I honestly don't know what they were expecting, maybe they just got the bad apple, but that's why I read negative reviews carefully, so many times the fault is mostly or partly on the user. After spending many years on a galaxy s5, this Blu phone is much better. There is more to performance than cpu speed and how much RAM it has. Modern systems are (potentially) more efficient even though they look similar on paper. Don't just compare hardware numbers, look to the benchmarks of things you will actually use the phone for. All in all, if it fits your budget, try it out. Just don't be that consumer that waits until after the return period to test it out and then leave a negative review because it wasn't what you inappropriately expected. That's such nonsense, the return policy with Amazon is amazing, don't waste it. This phone, for $100,is amazing. Spending less money gets you much lower performance, less reputable brands or 3G only, which isn't so bad if you don't watch videos online or don't mind watching in low quality. I almost went for a $50 3G phone, but I mountainbike and sometimes bus between cities too, so I wanted to make sure I had every possible antenna in case I got stranded haha. I really hate to come off as elitist for thinking that many of the negative reviews are user error but it's a $100 phone that does what it says. One review even said you get what you pay for, but rated 1 star. I stared at it shocked for a moment, baffled. People are nuts. Maybe it will bork out tomorrow, but I doubt it. Just be smarter than your phone. If you don't know how they work by now, there's an app for that too.

I liked the build quality. The screen is very nice. It feels good in the hand. The basic functions work great- clear phone calls in my experience. I used it with Android Auto in my 2019 Chevy via USB and it worked perfectly. Touch screen responsive. Camera quality pretty lacking, but I didn't expect otherwise. Ovverall it felt like a more expensive phone. But I have some serious issues with it: First off, why on earth does BLU cripple Android on this. Running third part launchers (for example) on an Android device, or changing the fonts, etc are NOT 'hacks' requiring root or anything else. Customizations are a native feature of Android and should not be limited or removed by OEMs. Case in point, Nova Launcher on this phoen makes it FLY. The stock Launcher3 on this thing is HORRENDOUS. Adding Nova and setting it to 'faster than light' settings made this phone fly. I would give 5 stars and recommend this phone fully and call it a day- but the needless limitations don't allow Nova to stay selected as the default. When you restart, it will go back to the horrible stock launcher which is slow as molasses and doesn't allow you to add any home pages. With my preferred setup of a calendar page, music player page, and main home screen using Nova, this phone was snappy and perfectly responsive, no battery hit- just an all around better experience using Android as it;'s meant to be. The crippled software made me have to dig 5 menus deep to switch the launcher each time. Unacceptable. There's NO good reason BLU needs to do this. Also, the settings and features of Android are bare-bones and stripped down. I could understand limiting somethings if it impacted the performance, but the crippling has actually made it so using customizations that IMPROVE perfornance aren't possible. I will not buy BLU phones, or give as gifts (I wanted to gift several of these otherwise) until they end their practice of restricting the Android OS needlessly. A shame, because there's much else to like about this phone.

The price is good, however the phone is just so slow that it is nearly unusable. Now, I was not expecting much for a $99 phone, but it's slow enough where it is very noticeable and makes doing any task cumbersome. This is supposed to be a temporary promotional price too, in which I cannot even fathom paying $150 for this phone. I would pay an extra $70 and get a Moto G6 over this. I bought this to use temporarily until my original phone got replaced via warranty, and I am going to find it difficult to use this. The playstore took nearly 10 seconds to load. Youtube opened in about 20 seconds. It's not even my internet, as settings and messages take 5 seconds to open. Maybe I got a faulty phone, but I cannot recommend this. I used the original R1 HD and even that phone was quicker and if I remember correctly was $70. Buy at your own risk. I mean the phone is fine and usable, but don't expect much from this. Poor performance, constant stuttering, and cheap build quality. Again, expected from a phone this price, but not quite this bad. I also want to add that the camera is very poor. One of the worst cameras that I have seen on a smartphone. It's pixelated and blurry, autofocus is practically non-existent.

Having broke my previous Blu phone, I decided to take my chances with his cheap Blu here. And wow what a surprise it was! The phone not only looks modern and clean, it has everything a stock android experience can offer. Pros: Vibrant and large display (surprised it's only 720p) All bloatware can be deleted with ease Stock Oreo 8.1, with little to no trace of Blu Ui (other than the launcher) Google news feed available at the home screen a smooth experience overall Ram management is decent ~9 GB of storage available from the start Adoptable Storage from SD Card Fingerprint lock (not the smoothest but definitely acceptable) Face Unlock (haven't tried it but a good feature overall) Selfie Flash (not many phones have this) Dual Cameras for Portrait mode Cons phone is a bit laggy at times Only 7 steps of volume control (why!?) Not confirmed for Android Pie update Notch can be annoying at times (can be hidden) Battery life is subpar (ultra battery saving mode available) Camera is definitely nothing to write home about (it's pretty bad) If you can pass up these cons, this is definitely a good starter phone and I'll never regret purchasing from Blu.
