Men's Minimalist Trail Runner W30

I bought these to replace my old walking shoes that had many miles on them. These are well built, all the stitching is tight and even. I typically wear a size 13 so I ordered a 12.5 (converted) and it fits perfectly. They do have an expanded toe box for comfort and fit better with no socks. In fact these are so comfortable they're like socks with vibrum soles! My feet are protected and feel stable in these. I like the gray with gum sole, they have a slight hipster look while not showing the dust I have to walk through here. They will support my walking activity and I'd even wear them on some easier hikes. I may add my old insoles which have a little more arch support, but so far these are fine and strengthening my feet!

As comfortable as my old Altra Lone Peaks, one-fourth the price, as well as hopefully an unchanging model for years to come. Replaced my old (depleted) stock of New Balance Minimus 10v1 — the shoes aren't directly comparable, but as someone with a strong preference for those now-discontinued runners, these sufficed. Ran a half-marathon on a forest trail with no training in months and no break-in time for the shoes. No blisters. Lack of cushioning means the rocks and roots are noticeable, but I prefer that (teaches mindfulness about where to land the foot). Have since also used for yard work, basketball, walks, and everyday wear. Not exceedingly stylish, but neither am I. Too soon to speak to durability, but the price point and performance have me unworried as long as I can get six months of heavy use on asphalt, concrete, dirt, and grass. The velcro is nice, especially for running. Easier to get a perfect fit without too much pressure on the top bones of my feet. Will probably stockpile half a dozen pairs once this pair proves to last six months at my activity level and environment. Update six months in: Have held up ~250 miles trail running; uncounted miles on asphalt and grass; heavy sprinting, jumping, cutting on concrete while playing basketball; and weightlifting. Never had any issues, even though the size is slightly bigger than I may need — no sliding inside, yet also very low pressure applied to top of foot. No odor, but I wear an athletic wool blend sock which I credit for that. Beginning to see wear on the sole under the heel, as I do with all my minimalist shoes. Overall I'd say this sole has exceeded my expectations for durability given my time and motions on concrete and asphalt. Will purchase more. Hope build quality is consistent. Update at 9 months: Ordering a second pair. Will update later as to whether build is similar between what should be identical items. If consistent, I'll probably buy a half-dozen because this shoe meets my expectations for a good shoe at an excellent price. Update at 16 months: Insoles of first pair degraded and left a yellow gunk that attached all-too-readily to my polyester-wool socks. Whitin sells replacement insoles but these are not the same type or feel as the originals. Have not found a good insole replacement to replicate exact feel. External sole on first pair is fine after much use. Second pair was approximately of the same build and quality of first pair. Lately have used second pair at 25% incline, 2-3mph on treadmill, or 15% incline up to 5mph. That's a new use case, just as serviceable. The top bones of my feet remain finicky with minimal pressure, so the velcro is still much appreciated to reduce pressure. If I can find a suitable insole replacement (many fine brands, styles exist; but I want the precise match), then I will buy a third pair or more.

Love these shoes for the price point. I can always find someone to pick about with shoes, so don't let the minus 1 start fool you I picked up my 1st pair of Whitin's just over a year ago and I still wear them. Just before that I started with another even cheaper version from another manufacturer. For the price point, I didn't know if you can get better, but yes you can get better. Pros: • durable enough to wear daily for a year+ and not wear out • inexpensive • very comfortable • true to size • all the normal barefoot benefits Cons: • they come with a minimally raised heel insole, hence not true zero drop, but close. Regardless, I prefer thinner and zero drop, so I take them out and put in a cheap pair of cotton or other barefoot style insole. I really wish they would come up with a version with thinner zero drop insoles, as it would probably save them and me money. • I'd love to see a puncture proof sole. I've never puncture these yet, but I am confident they're not puncture proof. • I would love it if they improved the inner lining beneath the insole. I often would just like to have no insole at all, but the stitching and materials inside, while useable, are clearly not intended for this purpose, leaving room for improvement. All in all, I would and have recommended these to many. For this price, you should say least try out barefoot shoes, and the "beginner insoles" they come with might be a pro for you if you're new to this style. I've purchased 4 total now, when I find them on sale for even better price points, 1 for my wife 1 for keeping a clean pair, and for when I wear out my original pair. I will buy again, but I also may look for an upgrade to these if they don't have newer options when my next time for replacement comes.

This is the first time purchasing this type of shoes. I was impressed with the design of the shoes and the quality. They look great on my feet and fit like a glove on my feet. They are light and I’m happy with the wide toe box. I can hardly wait to go on my first hike in them. The price was right too. I will recommend them to my friends.

I do like these a lot, very inexpensive when compared to other offerings in this area for barefoot type footwear. I did take the inserts out to give me a better connection to the ground. I don't run or anything in them. I just walk so it worked out well.

I have been wearing these shoes for a month. On the whole I have been fairly impressed by them, especially for their price, but I have had several fairly large issues with them. I purchased the bright orange/red color in size 8, which is slightly smaller than I normally wear (normally an 8.5 with ~10 inch long feet), and they fit very well. I wear the shoes without insoles. I use them primarily for a variety of high wear activities, including tennis (2-3 times a week), disc golf (2-3 times a week), and golf (1ish time per week). I have absolutely love the elastic + velcro system in place of traditional laces (be careful ordering as some "colors" do not have this system). I noticed small signs of poor quality when I first received the shoes, including loose threads on the velcro strap, but no major flaws. The shoes are ridiculously comfortable, some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. The bright orange color was a bit glaring but has since been toned down by normal wear. One of my biggest problems with the shoes is that their color has been leaking into my socks. I wear greyish socks, and every pair which I have worn consistently with these shoes has developed a pinkish tint as a result of the shoe color leaking/rubbing off on them. I like the thickness of the soles. I wear them with no insoles, and I think they provide the perfect balance between ground feel and protection. They have also exhibited minimal wear over the last month despite the relatively vigorous activities I use them for. The most recent issue I have had with the shoes is that the fabric layer on the bottom of the shoe (where your foot meets the bottom of the shoe) tore. When putting the shoe on, my toe slides into the rip in the fabric and makes contact with the rubber sole of the shoe. I am considering cutting the fabric out of the shoe. This would probably not be an issue if the shoes were worn with insoles. The look of the shoes is pretty slick, although the toe divisions on the front of the shoe raises some eyebrows ("Are those toe shoes?"). On the whole, I have mixed feelings about these shoes. They are extremely comfortable and cheap, and they meet all of my expectations for minimalist shoes. They have worn inconsistently, with the sole surviving well but the fabric inside of the shoe failing. The coloring rubbing off on socks is concerning and inconvenient.

I'm a woman with exactly a 10" foot, and the 42 fits me perfectly. I have been wearing these shoes for a year now, and they are still in fantastic condition. No holes, no rips. And trust me, I give shoes a run for their life. I've hiked through the woods on rough terrain and walked concrete and gravel paths for at least 200 miles in these shoes. The sole is still intact; the Velcro hasn't lost a bit of its grab. They're also very breathable, preventing my feet from sweating. I love the grip they give when I'm climbing steep inclines and appreciate that the tread curves up the toes because it has protected them from being stubbed on numerous occasions. Just recently, I was crossing a dried up creek, and thought a log was a safe stepping stone. The log sank into the last of the creek bed water, dunking my entire shoe. I thought my socks were a goner, but I surprisingly didn't feel a drop of wetness. I completed my hike and when I arrived home and took off my shoe, it was completely dry, and so was my sock. I was shocked! That's not to say that these are waterproof, though. I have worn them in the rain, and it made my socks damp. Prolonged water exposure will get through, but apparently a quick submersion is easy work for these shoes. I did mention that I wear socks with these. I go back and forth between wearing them barefoot or while wearing toe socks. If I'm running to the store, I'll simply slip them on, but if I'm hiking, the socks are going on. That's why I prefer size 42. It gives me a small amount of space between the tops of my toes and the end of the shoe so my feet don't rub and cause blisters. I have very sensitive skin and can easily rub blisters but have not experienced that at all with these shoes -- that's why the right size and fit matters. I originally bought a size 41 but gave that one to my son. Even though it fit me perfectly... it was too perfect and I felt shifting in areas that may cause uncomfortable rubbing. So if you put yours on and it hugs your toes too much, size up. Your toes will thank you. Overall, I love these barefoot shoes, and when I eventually wear them out, I'll include it in this review. They better never stop making these because I will be coming back for more!

So, I wanted a barefoot shoe, similar to Five Fingers, but without the individual toe pockets. Did a little online sleuthing and bought these. They fit and feel just like I remember a Five Finger but with an open toe box. At $45 these are freaking awesome. Want to take them out on a trail soon. Been wearing every day for a week and just love these. Going to order two more pairs soon.

Bought for my husband, arrived before expected. Great quality and description accurately portrays the product. Also the fitting instructions were accurate. Highly recommend. My husband loves the shoes, super comfortable.

These shoes are the best. Extremely comfortable, light weight and good traction. I bought these for running on a treadmill due to knee pain with my Nikes but I don't want to take them off. I've been wearing them all day for everything. These shoes take time to adjust to if you're used to a heel foot strike. When I'm wearing my "normal" shoes with a heel strike I feel a bit of a burn in my thighs but that's it, my legs don't really get tired. First day of running with toe strike with these shoes my calves were completely gassed for the first time in my life. My calves have never been worked to this extent before. I could only run a bit more than half as long as I normally can due to my muscles holding me back with this new foot strike, but I also had no knee or joint pain. I've seen other reviews of people saying their feet muscles get worked as well. Maybe when my calves get stronger I'll experience the same. The tread feels thick enough that I'd be confident in running with these outdoors without anxiety over stepping on small sharp objects. The fit is as expected while wearing socks. For barefoot I'd suggest dropping at least a half size. If you plan on removing the removable soles, with socks on, I'd drop a full size. Out of the packaging they have a bit of a weird smell. That's the only thing I dislike about them.
