How do you see through it?

Where the yellow and the eyes are, you can see through. It's kind of like the idea of looking through a mesh screen.

Will this fit a typical 8 yo boy?

The front of the mask is quite wide. And sort of rounded around the face it is not flat and it fits ok. However the elastic band on the back is rather short, eventhough it stretches out, it can be a little tight ( it closes in the middle with a tiny velcro piece) My 6 yr old can wear it ok. So it may fit an 8 yr old but maybe little tighter.
