14 inch-4 mm Thick Custom Made Damascus Billet Bar for Knife Making Purpose

The first thing that I found was it was soft steel that cut quite easily. I made one blade from half and I could not sharpened it I will make another with the other half but will heat to 2800 degrees and take it down to 3mm thickness. This gives me a second billet 2 x 12 x 3mm. I will shape before tempering the steel in ice water at 1,000 degrees. I have a fancy letter opener from the first but should get knife out of the second. I do not like that it does not specifically State tempered or not or how many welds in the bar.

The pattern is much better than I had thought, and the steel is even more amazing in person. The bar itself is larger than advertised, and I'm very satisfied with how it has worked so far.

Sweet piece of steel pattern is great. The billet came with about a 1mm twist in it and honestly I barely consider that a problem considering it’s hand made Damascus it is better than I hoped it would be 100/100 will order from this guy again.
