Spode Christmas Tree Sculpted 4 Section Dish
Since 2009 when production moved from the factory in England quality for this iconic holiday pattern has been, at best, mixed but this 11 inch four compartment dish is a pleasant surprise. One of the things I have noticed since 2009 is the Christmas tree decals are frequently raised instead of buried in the glaze. Does this matter? Well, to me the pieces feel coarse and I am not sure how, over time, they will wear. But, with this dish the surface is completely smooth with the trees submerged in the glaze. Another problem area are rough spots on the back – small areas where there is no glaze, but again, not an issue with this piece. The dish I purchased is perfectly smooth. The dish itself can serve in many capacities. It can be used for candy, nuts, appetizers, crudité, crackers, cookies, olives/pickles, etc. The four compartments measure approximately 5 x 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches. Beautiful and functional.
