Very sturdy and well made for £8
Firstly, I need to STRESS this review is for the E27 Oval Black Base model. If you check the other reviews carefully, all the poor reviews are NOT for this specific model, whereas I think all the other reviews for this specific model are 5 stars.I completely agree with those 5 star assessments for this specific model. For £8 this is an absolute steal. The whole unit is heavy in the hand, and feels very durable. It also looks good. The mesh on the front is metal, aluminium I'd guess, good thickness, strong. The "glass" is sufficiently thick and durable and heavy I'm not entirely sure if it's polycarbonate or real glass (the description says it's not real glass). The backing is also metal, this is a little thinner but still plenty durable, looks like sheet steel sprayed with black powder. The join between glass and back is a thick, durable, rubber seal. Absolutely no moisture could pass it. There are two holes on the back to affix it with screws, you'll need to use sealant or blutack when screwing them in to keep out moisture. The power cable entry point has a black rubber moisture seal which whilst cheaper than some I've seen, will be effective. My extremely low power LED filament bulb fits easily.Upon receipt I was genuinely surprised that this cost only £8, and yes I paid full price for it, this was not a sample for a review. I'd happily have paid £15 for it. Now, I know that this unit won't age too well, the polycarbonate will yellow and then orange in the UV from sunlight, and that steel backing being powdered mild steel will rust. So it'll look old quicker than a glass and all-aluminium unit. Still, the use of aluminium on the front means that this unit might not look great in five years, but I'd be extremely confident it'll be still working as designed up until that mild steel backing eventually rusts through and lets water ingress (tip: smear the backing and everywhere the steel sees the outside with water repelling grease before fitting, you'll add years to its lifespan).

Let their be light
Bought these to put in my loft space to replace the existing light and was pleased at how easy it was to fit these bulkhead lights and the amount of light they give is great for when when I am putting items in the loft for storage and also the service engineer who came to service my boiler (it’s in the loft) said the light was good for him and made it easy to complete the service. Great item and value for money with first class delivery..

Very Happy now they're installed but a little patience and time is required to install!
Great buy for the price. Plastic but solidand secure. After mounting I have used a little silicone to seal the screw holes and the hole for the wire as it doesn't come with rubbers for the mounting screws or wire hole.Installation is fairly easy if you have a little patience... Need to remove the reflector and I also removed the light fitting to make it even easier to get to the mounting holes. Also in my opinion if you try to knock out the pre prepared hole positions I think it would damage the unit so I drilled the holes within the prepared slots to be safe!Overall... Not as straight forward to install as other units I've had in the past but if you have a little patience they are really decent lights! Get the right bulb and you'll be happy with the results (I have 15W LED (125W equivilant)).I would have given it 5 stars but the fidly fitting and having to drill the holes let's it down slightly.

Great light at great price
I specifically needed a metal bulkhead light for an outhouse. This one was significantly cheaper than others and is very well made. Easy to install and looks perfect. Really pleased and highly recommend. Arrived quickly from seller too.

Looks good once it's up but fiddly to install
Many inherent design faults make it difficult to put up. Firstly you have to drill out the holes to screw it to the wall, but to do this you have to take out the light socket and the reflector plate as the screw holes are behind these. The screws are tiny and difficult to put back whilst up a ladder! The hole where the cable enters has to be drilled out and there is no rubber grommet supplied to keep the rain out. The rubber seal between the housing and the transparent plastic cover is not a tight fit and I would suggest drilling a small hole in the bottom of the light for any water that enters to drain out.Once it's up it's a good bright light for the money. How long it lasts will be interesting to see.

Not IP65 rating
Absolute rubbish. It states a rating of IP65.But you require a 20mm grommet for the entry point to maintain a rating of IP65. The grommet is NOT SUPPLIEDAlso it states Connect the luminaire to the mains supply ensuring the correct polarity is observed L- Live E-Earth N- Neutral. There is no identification on the light fitting terminals.
