Garrett THD Metal Detector

As a former law enforcement officer and current executive protection agency owner I can attest this wand is not only portable and rigged; it is VERY effective at located metal contraband. It is discreet too; but not alerting bystanders with a loud ‘wand ring’ when an item is hidden on someone. I like to keep my interactions with contraband violators low key. This wand does the job. I have two now and will be replacing all of my other wands very soon with this wand.

Had used them prior to buying one. Very durable, works as described. Very sensitive. Best feature to me is its discreetness. Quiet, doesn’t have audible alarm to that can be obnoxious and embarrassing to some. I have to scan a lot of elderly people and quietly just ask questions that doesn’t cause a scene from others hearing an alarm. Perfect for what I need it for. Also good for noisy venues because the light goes off and it just vibrates. Don’t have to rely on hearing it or seeing the light blink. Only minor complaint is that the button can’t be hard to push on. Other than that, love it

Small, compact, and easy to conceal up the sleeve of a sports coat, suit jacket, etc while working a crowd with a VVIP presence. The same Garrett quality you've come to expect as an industry professional. I'm buying more.

It will come in handy when I use it for private security jobs. Would recommend for all in the private security field

I was looking for a metal detector for metal detectorist hobby not security

Would be perfect...if it would alert to hypodermic needles. As a patrol officer, I thought this would be the perfect post-arrest and out on the street, for weapons, contraband and cuff keys. It is portable and appears to be very durable. I would give it five stars, but one of the dangers for the street cop is getting stuck by a needle. I did a video post arrest on you tube to show it not working, so I had evidence if I got a hard time returning it. You can see it here: [...] I'm an avid amazon customer, but purchased through another website, as it was $20 less. Trying to get the message out as I don't want others to think, as I did, that such a detector would always alert to needles.
