Universal Remote Now Fully In Control
If you don't use voice control (I don't) then this is perfect for allowing Firestick control via infra-red. My universal remote is now programmed and works perfectly and the original firestick bluetooth remote is in the drawer.

It works
Not much to say, needed it to connect to Fire Cube with Inteset remote. It does the job, probably could be cheaper given what it is.

Works with Amazon Firestick and XBox 360 Multimedia controller
Works with Amazon Firestick and an XBox 360 multimedia controller, though subsequently I programmed a universal controller to mimic the XBox 360 remote plus volume control and other features of the TV remote.

Don't buy!
As others have written, all I get is a solid blue LED when buttons on the companion remote (which has been programmed as per Inteset's instructions) are pressed. Tech support is poor and answers provided have been useless. My problem has occurred on 3 different sets of cables so I know it's not a one-off.

Great piece of kit
I used this to connect a Fire Stick with Ethernet Adapter to my Harmony Touch remote. The cabling is a little more complicated with the Ethernet Adapter (see pic), but I managed to sort it out with the help of Inteset Support. For this specific application, you need a Y-cable with OTG on both legs such as the TUSITA 2-Port Micro USB OTG Hub (with a micro USB adapter). I also had to block the Fire Stick from accessing the wireless connection to force it on to the Ethernet. Overall, it is a great solution, and my wife, who was sceptical, is now very happy.

I purchased this because the 2017 second generation Nvidia Shield that I own does not have a built-in IR receiver and I wanted to use my Harmony 650 to control it. Thankfully, this add-on USB IR receiver does about 90% of what I wanted. The Power On/Off/Toggle doesn't do anything and not all of the buttons work the way the button mapping diagram in the listing says that they should; i.e. the back/exit button is actually Red, etc.. Nonetheless, once I figured out the actual commands some buttons were sending, it was an easy thing to remap them in the Harmony software when programming the remote. So far, I deem it a success and now I can control it with my Harmony using IR instead of the Shield Bluetooth remote. One Caveat, the included remote includes a microphone and the Harmony, obviously, does not, so calling up the Goggle Assistant is not much use. That is not the fault of the IR receiver, just something to be aware of. EDIT: When setting this up initially, I followed the online instructions and set it up as an X-Box 360 in the Harmony software. As I wrote above, this gave me large part of the functionality controlling the Nvidia Shield, but there were still many instances where I had to use the original remote to get it to do what I wanted. Knowing that the Pro version of the Shield has an IR receiver built in, I decided to try the Nvidia Shield profile in the MyHarmony software instead. I wish I had tried it sooner, because now my Harmony 650 controls the Shield 100% the way I want it to, it's perfect! Long story short, if you are buying this to control an Nvidia Shield with a Harmony remote, ignore the online instructions and set it up using the proper profile instead of an X-box 360.

It Works! I purchased this with the matching splitter. The connections took a few seconds. I fired up the TV and Boom --- my Harmony 650 remote controlled my Amazon Fire TV stick. The device on the Harmony 650 was set up as a Microsoft Xbox 360, just as recommended by the manufacturer. I had to play around with the key mappings, but no biggie. I have done that with every other device. Money Well Spent. Here's some help. A few keys aren't intuitive to map Menu: Xbox Guide Back: Live TV Rewind and FastForward are as you would expect SkipBack and SkipForward don't do anything I have no mapping for the button with the 3 lines. I never use it on the Fire remote so I don't care about the Harmony 650.

I have purchased three of these over the years, and all work brilliantly to allow an Nvidia Shield to be controlled over IR by remotes such as the Harmony 650/665/700. The Shield lacks any sort of built-in infrared receiver so must be controlled via the included remote. However, if you plug a USB IR receiver such as this one into the back of the, you instantly allow it to be controlled with a compatible IR remote. Just add the Nvidia Shield into the Harmony software and you are good to go. It is not, however, compatiple will all other streamers, sadly. I tried this with the Bluetooth-only, but otherwise excellent ONN 4k pro and this receiver did not work at all. The GoogleTV box just did not recognise the receiver. Oh well.

I bought this because i wanted to control my Nvidea Shield and Roku Express 4K + with a universal IR remote that also controls my other devices, seeing this huge instruction booklet with a lot of writing about all kinds of functions scared me a little, however it's really easy to program it, for my Nvidea Shield press D hold set until it blinks - release - enter 04918 DONE! Works like a charm :)
