Buy Thermodynamics and an Introduction to Thermostatistics on desertcart.com ✓ FREE SHIPPING on qualified orders Review: Postulaic-vs-Laws approach - I thoroughly enjoyed learning from this book. It was required for a graduate course on thermodynamics, and I found it very easy to read and the problems were helpful. My previous experience in thermodynamics was with Engel and Reid's Thermodynamics, Statistical Thermodynamics, & Kinetics, which took an approach that focused on the laws of thermodynamics. I much preferred the postulaic approach. It was more intuitive and mathematical. I understood thermodynamics much better in this context, since you are introduced to properties was mathematical relations instead of immediately presenting physical interpretation without the formalism. Some of the figures have typos, I think. There were a couple axes that didn't make any sense. But all in all, excellent textbook! Review: this was an awesome book!! helped a lot!! - Totally used this book for a graduate class, that helped me tremendously!! was a must have!! this book helped me get an A+ in the class!! Shipping was super fast!! would totally recommend to anyone!!!

Great topic
Purchased as a personal improvement read. Sound reasoning and good plotline.

Even though the book I received was Callen 2nd edition and same printing number as a lot of other people in my book. A lot of my book had deviations from my classmates and some outright wrong formulas. Make sure you get the light colored Callen book.

Great book
This is one of the best books for introductory thermodynamics. It was one of the textbooks for my first graduate level thermo course. It is very readable with no requirement of high level mathematics. In my opinion, it is a perfect starting point for anybody who has a basic knowledge in science. Both my friend and I were regretting not to have known about this book during our undergraduate years. I love its presentation of entropy -- it is very unique and easy to grasp.

A meaty book with good information
This book is a must have for understanding thermodynamics. It is well written and covers a lot of ground, giving you a good lay of the land. Simply amazing.

You must have this book: buy it, read it, eat it
I had great expectations on this book (by reference of my friends) , and certainly, did not disappoint me at all: this is a fundamental book at the time to study in depth thermodynamics. Thank you very much, Professor Callen

Callen's Book is an excellent reference for the subject. However, the problem is about the quality of the materials employed to make it. It is not possible that one can print the book in better conditions without any expertise compare with what you get with this book.

Having no previous experience with thermodynamics, I'm not sure why our professor assigned this text. I feel like this text requires a prerequisite and the purpose of Callen's text is to refine knowledge, not to form a knowledge base. The material in the textbook is well presented and understandable. Some sections may require extra effort referring to previous sections to see how Callen is deriving the equations. That said, it is a really 'tight' book and doesn't go into much mathematical or verbal detail. The chapter questions...are exceedingly difficult. Almost no worked problems are presented and once you're finished reading the material, it seems to have poorly prepared you for the questions. The textbook is fine, be warned it will go much better I believe if you have preparation for this text.
