Two problems in less than a year...
So far I have had these speakers for less than a year. On one speaker, one of the crossovers output pins broke off so I lost the midrange. Ok somewhat of an easy fix. Now the other speaker's amplifier went out so I no longer have bass from that speaker. Called Def tech and no ploblem a replacement amp is on the way. One month laterI still haven't received anything so I called back asking for an update or tracking number or something, a few days later I received an email saying that the amps are on backorder. So now I am waiting for the replacement amp so I can sell the speakers since I am outside of my return window. Avoid Definitive technology, apparently they have a history of designing bad amplifiers and these speakers are no exception. So overall for the price, how many problems I have had in less than a year and absolute horrible customer service communication I do not recommend these speakers/this company unless you know that you are willing to take on a project.

Want impressive sound? Get the BP9080's!!!!
After months of contemplating whether to upgrade my Definitive BP8060's, I just did it one night. I was not disappointed! I was impressed before I ever got the 9080's out of the box. They arrive in massive boxes that are packed very well. Outside of the boxes are directions on how to open. They are cleverly positioned inside the box so that you can assemble the base onto the main unit before removing from the box. And then you just flip the box over and the speaker is standing on its base so that you never risk it being damaged. At first I wasn't particularly impressed with the grey/silver atmos speaker area at the top, but after a few days it begins to grow on you. The color contrast between the black and silver now has its own character. Just looking at the entertainment system with these on either side makes you expect power. And they deliver! I am powering them with a Denon AVR 4200W. This provides more than adequate power to get full potential from the BP9080's.You will get room filling sound no matter what you are watching or listening to. I have a very large room that is one open space going from living room to dining area to kitchen. I found that my old 8060's would max out but fill the room fully. With the 9080's, they are capable of filling the entire space with powerful, accurate sound that you can feel. With the built in powered 12" subwoofers, there is no separate subwoofer required. They are capable of vibrating the couch and make you feel the bass in your chest when watching movies or listening to music. After sampling some music, the first movie we watched was Transformers: The Last Knight. This is one of the few movies with Dolby Atmos. It was amazing. The explosions were felt, the dialogue was clear, and the Atmos provided overhead sound most noticeable during action sequences. Even compared to my old Bp8060's, the movie sounded more full and powerful. In my opinion, with the 9080's along with the center and surround set up that I have, my living room has better sound than the movie theater. I have not gone to the movie theater since. There is absolutely no desire to.We listen to a wide array of music from orchestra, rock, pop, rap and hip-hop. The 9080's deliver excellent sound across all music genres.Whether you're wanting a movie theater like sound experience from BluRays or are just wanting to rock out to music to unwind, relax, or pump you up, you will not be disappointed!!

Both broke with in 14 months
The crossover in 1 speakers went just after 1 year. Amp in the other went after 14 months. Amp is no longer made as per DefTech when I contacted them, so no replacement is available. DefTech makes poor quality products at a high price. Never had these problems in any other speakers I have owned to date.

Big Package... Big Sound
These are indeed the BP9080x. Previous reviews for this listing are from an earlier model. This listing must have been updated at some point in the past. These speakers have gigantic sound. They could very likely cause hearing loss. They are not for small rooms or apartments. They will shake windows, doors, light fixtures and fillings. I have not heard one shred of distortion. They have a very very clear sound at all volumes. I've never owned a speaker this capable. The sounds stage is big, but you can hear distinct realistic sounds and notes as they were intended to be heard. I'm someone who likes to tinker and adjust levels for hours. They didn't take a whole lot of EQ'ing. I have a 5-6 year old Yamaha Receiver RX-820 with about 100W per channel. With the YPAO tuning, the results were spot on. There wasn't a whole lot to adjust. They just sounded great. At louder volumes it feels like being in the studio with the band, or small club with a really good sound system.I paired these with the 9080CS center. It's a great match. When watching movies, we are always having to pause to make sure the sound or noise really came from the movie. The 9080CS almost replaces a sub for those ultra lows. When do I use my DT ProSub 1000 with this setup, the sound is so thick, it's frightening.I'm not a huge fan of the all mesh. I wish there was some rich hardwood in the cabinet and I love to look at the drivers, but I'm guessing that would drive up the price. If you looking for sound quality at a lower price point than some of the other high-end brands then these are your best candidates. They are big. I didn't see or hear these in person before buying them. There's not a lot of info about them online (Why Definitive? Why?). Bought them as a leap of faith going off my experiences with the ProSub 1000. I am not disappointed. I went back and forth on the 9060 and the 9080. I saw these for an unreal price so I jumped on them.Did I say they are big? I feel like they are a little too big... My girlfriend calls them the Twin Towers. I call them the Towers or Power. But big package... big sound. If I would have seen these in person I probably would have went for the 9060 just due to the size. Now that I have them, I wouldn't trade them in. I just need to buy a bigger house now.Update: It's been about 6 months now. No complaints. I would buy them again.
