Zerodis120V Dusk to Dawn Sensor Photoelectric Switch, Automatic, Black

I read the reviews on this switch and was hesitant, but it was the only one I could use in my new house lights. I purchased 2 extras to have a backup. I step-drilled a 3/8" hole in the bottom of each light fixture then enlarged it some with a round file (although the dimensions on description indicate the switch eye is 3/8", it is actually slightly larger). Inserted switch eye through hole with washer on the inside. I then wired switch's black wire to house "hot" / black wire, the red wire to the light's black wire, and the white wire joining the light and house white wire. I had to put black tape over eye to test it. Voila! works great . . . on at dusk and off in the morning. For those who said their's blinked on and off, you may have the red and black wires turned around (I tested it that way to see what would happen). I recommend to insure you put the switch pointing as far from the actual light coming from the fixture or it could blink on and off also.

I ordered one, tested it with a multimeter between red/black with and without the sensor wrapped completely in black electrical tape . The R/B wires remained shorted ON the whole time.Got a 2nd unit sent as a replacement, behaved the same way.*** UPDATE ***It turns out that 1 of my 2 units is indeed working. There is a significant delay between when the switch opens and closes in the presence or absence of light, which is good because without this hysteresis, the switch would "chatter".One of the units remains DOA though, which is not promising for vendor's quality control.

I installed this a day or two after I received it. It didn't work the first night, so on the second night I tapped it lightly and it started working. I noticed yesterday the light didn't turn off in the morning, so I tapped it lightly again and it turned off, but it did not turn on last night; appears to be sticking and is faulty. I'll be buying a different sensor and throwing this one out (Amazon's requirement that you return cheap items like this to get a refund when they are faulty is misguided) . Just don't waste your money.

Purchased earlier but just getting around to installing. Inside carport didn't have enough light to operate dusk to dawn light. Installer this sensor to outer part of carport. It works great. No longer have to worry about turning light on and off. Seller called to make sure i receiver and was happy with item. I would recommend item as well as seller. Good fast service.

warks but smaller than I wanted. Had to replace an existing unit. Because this one was smaller I had to do a lot of fiddling to get it installed.

It was easy to install and worked flawlessly. This is the second one I have bought for two separate lights. The first one has been in the fixture over two years. No issues.

Be aware that when testing it inside your home, using an artificial light source, there is a few seconds delay before switching On or Off. This is quite normal as the unit is meant to operate at a much slower dawn/dusk outdoor light environment.Overall great value!

Outdoor lamp post stopped working, tried this cheaper solution and was thrill that we only needed to change the sensor. This was easy to install and it works great, dusk to dawn no problems.

Unit does not work. Connected as indicated and the light is on all the time.
