Gray hair, no. Mini bald spot it will do the job. However you need to have hair in your trouble area to blend.

Is this used to emhance beards and line up for a better sharper pop? If so how long does this pemcil last?

I'm sure you could use it for that! I use mine to draw a literal guide line onto my face into my beard as because the product is so dark I can see it on my skin beneath etc it helps me cut clean lines with my straight razor.
