The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living [Lacey Sturm, Graham, Franklin, Welch, Brian Head] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living Review: Tremendous and Beautiful - A deeply moving, profound account of physical and spiritual salvation. Highly, highly recommend. Review: I was drunk and this book helped me sober up, kind of? - I'll be honest, I bought this on an impulse after downing half of an eight pack of bud light hurricanes. I then proceeded to down two more drinks while contently reading the kindle version of this book. Minutes turned to hours and after a quick trip to the bathroom where I proceeded to feel death come for me in the usual over dramatized fashion of the human body saying "STOP, SERIOUS DUDE. STOP" I went back and cried silently as I continued to read. This book has a lot of heart and offers it in a well presented formatting of paragraphs and chapter layout along with minor illustrations that help convey an emotion from the reader. The book begins with some background information of Lacey and is presented with several memories of hers that go from beautiful moments of childhood wonder and the struggles of growing up along with a different perspective of growing up. There's some moments that go along the lines of "my mother was great" and then you have that sweet attitude that speaks up from time to time, a personal accenting of an idea by the author herself that adds a rich texture to her story that is so relatable and engrossing while never going too far or giving too little. It's the right amount of love, like a mothers apple pie. Sweet and plentiful but, the baker herself exercises tactful moderation not to give her children false assumptions but instead merely to show the extent of her love for not only herself. Ideally, this is the book to read if you want to read a journey of a young girl becoming a modest woman who defines herself while still loving and respecting the lord above. I'm not a Christian, I still can't look at a church without gagging but, this book made me want to reconsider my blind hatred. That's something that none of my friends or outsiders have given me. I would highly recommend this book to any list of mom and pop approved reading material for young adults and even grown adults alike.

Amazing book
This book was so beautiful. It was captivating and I read it within a few days. I love the band FlyLeaf and it was such an experience reading Lacey's book, which talks about her journey with mental health struggles and finding God. I related really closely with her story and while reading, it almost felt like her and I were friends. I recommend this book to anyone, believer or non believers in Christ- because her personal story can reach anyone.

An eye-opening glimpse into a troubled soul who found her way
I literally read this book in a 2-day reading binge. I have always been a big fan of Lacey Sturm, starting way back when she was with Flyleaf and even now with all of her solo work. She is quite talented and by reading her book, hearing her stories and her thoughts on God, I've actually started to view things in a different way. The way she describes her younger years really touched me, while we had wildly different upbringings some of the things she wrote very well could have come out of own head. I am halfway through her second book and hope she writes more. I enjoy how she looks at things and how she isn't afraid to admit to thoughts or feelings from her past that most of us would be ashamed to admit. It takes courage to put that out there and she has touched many lives by doing so, I would even say she has probably saved a few lives without even knowing it. I would absolutely recommend this to any fans of her music, even if you aren't but enjoy reading about people who have turned their life around this is a good read.

Lacey's tale is so awe-inspiring and life changing.
Lacey has such a beautiful style of writing that bleeds into her music and this book. You can feel that she is speaking from her heart throughout this. She wants to make the world better because she felt as if she was saved by God. That people were created in God's image and they are all individually beautiful. No matter what, they are loved. This book helped me feel closer to my spirituality than ever before. I have been through similar events in my life as Lacey and reading how she overcame those problems was such a beautiful experience. I definitely recommend this book to Flyleaf/Lacey Sturm fans, those who are spiritual, or just want to read about overcoming the hurdles life throws at you.

I'd heard of Lacey Sturm and vaguely knew she was ...
I'd heard of Lacey Sturm and vaguely knew she was a Christian singer. When I saw her book at Barnes and Noble it reached out and grabbed me. Lacey went through a rather tough childhood and in her teen years became suicidal. She was living with her grandma at the time and she insists on taking her to church. That night changed her life as she accepted Jesus as her savior. The rest of the book is about her life as a Christian singer, a mom and a writer. This is an enjoyable and inspiring book.

Amazing book
I have followed Lacey since hearing "All Around Me" in 2007. I was so excited to get this book and hear her story from a more intimate view. I'm half way through and I can't seem to put it down. I love how raw the emotion is coming from her. Great book! If you haven't checked out the band, I suggest you listen to Flyleaf and Lacey Sturm.

I really enjoyed to read Laceys Story. I was deeply moved. The book is written wonderfully and in such a colorful way, that you can really dive into the Story. I have read it several times by now.

This is a well written book with an easy to read style. Flyleaf have done a fantastic job bringing hope to dark places and saving so many lives. I enjoyed reading Lacey's story and appreciated how she interspersed the gritty and difficult events with hopeful and positive messages. This is particularly helpful for readers who are currently in a bad place themselves. Lacey has clearly read widely and as a result her theology seems pretty solid and more nuanced than that of the average American evangelical - I'm glad to see CS Lewis and St Augustine being quoted!
