This kit works really well. I use this on my Craftsmen rotary tool, and it fit perfect. Easy to install and angle guide is easy to see.

I bought this to sharpen my pole saw chain. Still haven't done that but I did sharpen my lawn mower blade. it was pretty easy to use. It cleaned it up real nice and put a nice edge at what appears to be the correct angle. I didn't put the blade in a vice, I just held it in my hand. I will get to the pole saw chain soon enough and update the review but for lawn mower blades, it seems to work well. The nice thing about it is it's easy to use and fairly quick so touching up your blades a little more often will ensure a nice sharp blade, a good cut and a nicer lawn. I guess...what do I know...

I have tried a round "rat tail" file for sharpening my chainsaw blades and never had much success. Maybe I wasn't doing it right. I have also bought dremel sharpening bits and tried to free-hand it with limited success. I began to think of saw blades as disposable... dig into the dirt, hit a rock, saw some oak?... just toss the blade and get a new one. I have only used this kit one time and it sharpened my blade quickly, easily, and PERFECTLY! It pretty much paid for itself after one use. Shop around on here... I found this kit with more features and items for less money. I have not yet used the shear/blade sharpening attachment.

Easy DIY sharpening if you already have a classic Dremel like many DIYers do (the spinning kind, not the oscillating kind). I used this kit to sharpen old mower blades. You just remove the normal cap and whatever attachment is on the Dremel now, replace with one of the 3 caps in the kit and the correct sharpening cylinder, and you're ready to go. Check the instructions, there's additional pieces but I only paid attention to the lawn mower one. The cap acts as a guide-- it's approximate since blades are shaped differently, but keeps you from bouncing off if the stone catches as it sharpens. Since the dremel spins the stone (it's not pushing against the blade like a file or grinder), you don't even really need a clamp to use this. I just used a leather glove and a firm grip, easy-peasy. Don't forget your eye protection! If you have a steady hand or planned to clamp the blade anyway, you can buy just the lawn mower stone from this set separately and use it free-hand without the guard/guide. This kit is best if you also plan to use the other pieces. Overall: very easy to use, and less complicated than the other sharpening kits. Unless your blade is in very bad shape, it's a quick, cheap way to sharpen the edge or remove minor nicks. If you have lots of blades, or need to work with very damaged edges, you're better off with a file or grinder. But for normal wear-and-tear, this works beautifully.

I had two dremel tools and a dull chain. No more dull chain. 10 minutes to read the instructions and 20 minutes to sharpen the 24 inch chain and it was time to see if I really did follow the instructions. Oh yes it was quick and easy and cuts great. I orderd two extra of the correct size bits but the one I used barely looks warn or discolored so those are a great backup for later and not to expensive to have around. I had never sharpened a chain so I was hoping I didn't waste my time/money and It worked out great. I can order a chain this one really still has a ways to go now. Now I have a tool for my garden tools and my spare for projects.

Bought this to sharpen my Stihl 170 chainsaw. Once attached to my Sears rotary power tool (AKA Dremel) it does a good job. Makes it super easy to sharpen a chainsaw. Find out what size grinding wheel your saw chain takes prior to ordering and order some spares at the same time. This kit only comes with one of each size. Stihl 170 size is 5/32 Low Profile.

Domestic easy solution to simple sharpening tasks. Worth every penny (half price on Black Friday deals) but would pay full price. The guide for the mower blade is ok but the chainsaw guide does make it easier (domestic) and so does the shear / secy guide. Not as good as stones and doing it by hand but far far easier !! Worth buying
