Silly marketing but the thing works great.
Silly marketing but the thing works great. Way better built than my old chopper of similar design. I can do the chef thing and wield a knife but this makes the process just too fast, clean and easy--it really is a better mousetrap. Toss in a hunk of onion (or pepper or whatever) and slap away. Perfect quick chop, all confined to the chopper. Count your "slaps" and repeat for every batch for extremely consistent results.

Warning: Slap Chop 4-stars. Knock-off I received and Dollar Paradize (seller) - 1 Star.
I'm sure the Slap Chop (when I get one) will be just fine. I recently used one at a friends house and I was very happy with it, so I attempted to purchase one for myself. The Slap Chop works well and saved me time cooking (win), and I want to own one. The following is my review of Dollar Paradize and my experience: Dollar Paradize "fulfilled" the order for a Slap Chop. The Amazon page is for a Slap Chop, the pictures show a Slap Chop, the invoice shipped with the item even says Slap Chop. So why did I get a Chopper, a cheap knock-off? Deception may make you money, but it will lose you customers. Keep my money, I will throw out your bogus product. ------------------------------------ The Chopper does not work well at all. If it did, I wouldn't even complain about the item being different. The housing that "butterflies" does not connect well to enclose the blades. It included a cheese grater {which the item I attempted to purchase does not include), but I won't use it and it doesn't distract me from the rip-off, knock-off item. Beware Dollar Paradize with this product. They seem to have positive ratings, so this may not be their M.O.

I was SO excited about this product, but it doesn't quite work as advertised.
When I saw the commerical for Slap Chop, I immediately that it was EXACTLY what I needed to make my chopping situation easier. I'm severely disabled and I have bad hand spasms that make cutting things dangerous to say the least. LOL I got prepared to try this product within ten minutes of opening it. I washed it out and got it ready, and I put 3 tiny baby carrots in the containter. I slapped the darn thing ONE time, and it jammed. Any tough food, or food with skins like onions lodges VERY quickly. It took another ten minutes to get the carrots from out between the flimsy blades, which completely put me at risk for a cut. LOL I can get this to work if I cut the food into less thick pieces, but that's just ADDING prep time to anything you're doing. I did some research, and bought the Big Mouth Chopper. ( Norpro Big Mouth Chopper, Slicer This product is MUCH sturdier that the Slap Chop or the Slice-O-Matic, though it is more expensive at $30. However, you get what you pay for. I don't want to have to pre-chop my food into smaller pieces to make the Slap Chop work, and it certainly doesn't do what it's supposed to, or what the commercial shows. And the problem is the flimsy blades. If they were thicker and sturdier, the darn thing might work. LOL Anyway, I just wanted to share my $.02. Thanks so much for your time folks. Sincerely, R.A. Choppin' like a pro!
I love my Slap Chop! I am a newly wed and was always so scared and timid to chop up vegetables etc. with a knife. Finally, from lack of experience and being overly timid, I ended up cutting my hand incredibly bad. A friend suggested I get a Slap Chop. I was skeptical...thinking it would be cheap and not really work. But let me tell you--it works! I rarely use anything but my Slap Chop when it comes to chopping. It is easy to use and easy to clean. The blades are sharp enough to cut through carrots, nuts, garlic--you name it. It used to take my forever to prepare recipes that had chopped ingredients--now I'm choppin' like a pro! The only problem I have had with it is using it to mince things such as garlic. The blades, even though they rotate, are just too far apart to do a good job mincing. However, it isn't designed to mince, it is designed to chop--hence the name. I love this product and will give it to other new brides!

Poor Quality - Broke in 3 uses.
I was excited by the prospect of this item - since I chop things a lot and it could potentially be a great time-saver. However there are 3 great structural flaws. 1. The plastic barrier that stops food from riding up the blades often impedes the blades from descending - resulting in a slap that does more damage to your palm than the food. 2. The clear shield that rotates to attach itself and the barrier to the chassis is terribly made. The angle and depth of the locking tabs is nowhere near sufficient, and thus the shield and barrier fall off the unit often - leaving a set of exposed blades waiting to mangle your hand. 3. The blades are cheap soft steel. After 3 uses not only did the unit shred its own barrier but it also dented the blades like I was chopping nails, not carrots. It looks impressive, but this is a unit that gives info-mercials their bad reputation. Stay away.

A Slap Chop in every kitchen!
I could not find my Slap Chop one day and after two days of hunting for it, went straight to Amazon.com to buy one. I actually bought 2 so I could have a backup. I have used a Slap Chop ever since they were first advertised on TV. In fact, I wore out my first Slap Chop and was enjoying my second one until it got misplaced. I can't live without this gadget. It makes dicing onions and peppers and zucchini easier than doing it manually. The Slap Chop comes apart and washes up easily. Just be sure that the round plastic cover which goes over the metal slicers is on correctly. Otherwise you may ruin this plastic piece.
