Three Amigos (DVD)

Good and looks brand new.

This is what comedy entertainment is all about! It may even rank as the funniest movie I've ever seen. It just has a ton of laughs, start-to-finish, and without a lot of the raunch of today's comedy films. Not only does the dialog produce numerous laugh-out-loud scenes but so do all the sight gags, and there are plenty of those. The funniest characters in the film are the villains, led by "El Guapo," played by Alfonso Arau. He is almost indescribable. All he has to do is open his mouth and show his bad teeth and then give his huge smile and I crack up every time. The three leads - played by Steve Martin, Matin Short and Chevy Chase - are all excellent and in the primes of their careers. The film also is directed by John Landis, who has a knack for directing extremely entertaining movies. This film was written by Martin, Lorne Michaels of "Saturday Night Live," and songwriter Randy Newman. Kudos to all of them for a job well done. In addition to the great comedy, decent language and color characters both good guys and bad guys, was the beautiful cinematography. There is a very colorful-looking film and looks outstanding on DVD. The only thing better would be a sharp Blu-Ray transfer.

We enjoyed the cast and plot of Three Amigos, and well worth the price. It was also an entertaining respite from the politics of 2023. to forget politics for a couple of hours T really fun to be amused

Good movie

Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short—three comedy titans—ride into this flick like a posse of wild banditos on a bender, guns blazin’ with one-liners so sharp they’d cut El Guapo’s mustache clean off! These Hollywood clowns think they’re just playin’ dress-up as cowboy stars, but BAM—they’re knee-deep in a Mexican dust-storm of real bullets, real bad dudes, and a whole lotta ‘What the hell did we sign up for?!’ The script? Pure gold, like findin’ a treasure map in a tortilla! It’s absurd, it’s chaotic, it’s got more heart than a saloon full of weepy drunks singin’ ballads. The costumes? Flashier than a peacock on parade. Hard-core fans know this ain’t just a movie—it’s a freakin’ showdown of laughs, a wild west fever dream where every scene’s a shot of whiskey chased with a cactus kick. I’ve watched this flick so many times, and I’d still trade my VCR for a chance to ride with these three lunatics. Three Amigos is a cult classic that’d make John Wayne trade his spurs for a dance number—pure, unhinged, movie-mad glory!

I felt I had to own this. Great blu ray. My only disappointment is that the film has no director or actor commentary. that would have been great.

Have enjoyed this title for years. Very funny. Silly and Campy. DVD played well. The three leads do a wonderful job.

This is Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short in their comedic prime, playing recently fired silent movie actors forced to earn money by ridding a small Mexican village of its evil oppressor. They assume it is nothing more than a Public Appearance gig, but the enemy is quite real! This movie is kinda goofy, kinda silly, and all funny. Each of the three comics gets his turn to shine in memorable gags, and there are too many of those gags to list here. Watch for a pre-"Saturday Night Live" Phil Hartman and John Lovitz in an early scene. Funniest bits: Short and Martin running out of water in the desert, Short telling his story of being "discovered" by Lillian Gish's sister, summoning the Invisible Swordsman, Chase trying not to blow his cover in front of the main villain and his henchmen, and Steve Martin's character learning that the supposedly "staged gunfight" is actually real.
