do you need a smart pug with this light bulb be used on any light fixture in the home? for example on a chandelier or something other than a lamp ?

You can use it in any light fixture (as long as it's the matching/allowed wattage for your light/lamp of course). You do not need a smart plug - the lightbulb itself if a smart lightbulb. You do however need a google home or alexa type device to operate them via voice. The bulbs themselves don't react to a voice control. If you are using it in a light fixture that requires more than one light bulb in it, you will have to purchase enough of these smart bulbs to fill that light so that they all react when asked to 'turn off/on' and then set them in the geeni ap (which is then connected to your goole home ap) to, for example: living room main light 01, living room main light 02, living room main light 03 - if all 3 of these bulbs are in the same light fixture. Then when you ask your goole or alexa device you can just say 'living room main light' and it will react and operate the 3 bulbs in unison.
