Why do the instructions say you need salt water?

When an electric current passes through a solution of water and hydrogen chloride (salt water) the substance sodium hydroxide as well as hydrogen and chlorine gases are formed. Sodium hydroxide aka lye is what kills hair follicles.

Does it work on gray hair

I don't have gray hair so I cannot say for certain but I don't see why it wouldn't. Regular electrolysis (performed at a salon) works on gray hair. Plus you have to put the needle in the hair follicle for the electrical current to "zap" the hair. Therefore I don't think hair color has any bearing on its performance.

Do I need to buy the stylets tip separate? or will this kit have everything I need?

The kit has everything you need, but I would get an antiseptic cream (Tea Tree Therapy Antiseptic Cream -- 4 fl oz). I can't remember if the 9 volt battery comes with it or not.

Does it make any type of sound like beep or something when comes in contact with the root of the hair or at any other point of time?

Yes. I brought the kit in July 2020. The key to success with this is to use it properly. Go on Youtube to PalsLivesLife channel. She has an excellent how-to demonstration video and you can hear what the beep is supposed to sound like. I love the kit because it does work with time and patience. It is NOT fake electrolysis. But the unit must be used properly and this takes some practice. You need an excellent magnification mirror also. PalsLivesLife recommends using more salt in the solution than manual states, and I found this very helpful.
