I love this salt pig. Easy to use one handed when cooking at the stove. The domed lid flips back perfectly and stays in place when put back. Looks very stylish and modern. Even though its plastic it still looks like stone/marble. Works perfectly! The only thing i am a bit unhappy about is that the price has dropped from $49 to $29 just as i bought this unit 2 weeks ago!

At first, it required two hands to open, but after lubing it with some oil, I can easily open and close it single handed. My salt doesn't clump together, either. I think a trap door design would be slightly more convenient, but this is the best I could find—definitely beats the horizontal and removable lid designs.

Not great as a salt cellar. The gaps where the cover slides open or close is a salt trap! The trapped salt either falls INTO the container or sticks around causing the cover to get stuck. When I finally get around to it, I guess I can possibly wash the trapped salt out by immersing the whole thing in water. There's a small hole at the bottom to allow drainage, I think. (see pics) However! As a cute container for earrings or other junk on a counter, it works.

I do knot use to hold salt. I use to hold my damp stamp cleaning cloth. Keep the rag from drying out too quickly and prevents a dirty rag from staining my desk. In addition I can always find my cleaning rag

I use this too keep my shammy damp during crating sessions . I had seen them used for this purpose in various craft demos and they were recommended by the demonstrators .. However I don't think they are available anymore , as I wanted to get one for a friend and cannot find them ...
