She's done it again: Patricia Polacco has shared her gift and written a honey of a tale! Her illustrations are colourful, fun, mixed with real photos of folks mentioned in the story and sure to pique the interest of your child. The stories while simple contain a gem at the heart of the adventure. This one has a wonderful collection of folks who lend their individual gifts followed by the Great Truth from the wise Grampa! Your child (or inner-child) will love this book. I suggest gifting with a small jar of honey!

Patricia Palacco childrens’ books are excellent. Using true life childhood experiences the author has gone through, she weaves a story interesting and ultimately sharing an important life learning message. Her own illustration share her rich family heritage. I’m attempting to collect all her books!

This was such a cool story!! I loved it. It captures the fun and adventure and the love of nature of childhood. I had never heard of finding honey like this. And they don't kill any bees or take very much honey or ruin the hive. They take just a little. So it's not that bad. It's an amazing book and captures an emotion like patricia polacco always manages to do soo well. It is like the emotion is contained in the book like a little miracle. Amazing feat. Great book!

Starting to love most of this writers books. I bought the one about Holes in the Sky for my granchild... for that eventuality when i slip through those holes in the sky. And because Jesus is my Savior... i will... eventually... go through them. And... Lightning in a Jar... takes me back to when life was fun and my sister and i did the same. Was able to pass the tradition on this last 4th of July just before the fireworks display started.

Great story books and wonderful illustrations, I remember reading this authors work years ago by a great teacher who helped me find love in books and being able to travel into the storyline and to be able truly enjoy the story.

Reading is sweet, and this is an adorable storyline with fun art to tell a child this simple message as the characters (and your child!) get swept up in an exciting adventure. We've enjoyed the paperback version for years, and now we're back for a hardcover version. A little girl doesn't know yet how enjoyable reading is, but by the end of the book, she knows! It's as sweet as honey.

Great story with a wonderful lesson about “the best things take work to get” at the end.

Starting with a little girl who finds it boring to read, the story is fun and fast paced. It makes for a delightful read! The illustrations are detailed - this is well appreciated by my son, 5 years old. He wanted a book on bees and I struck upon this! While there is a little information about bees, the best part about this comes in a surprise twist in the end! I loved it. Simply beautiful!

My 3 year old laughs his head off at the bounding billygoats and the stamped of people following the honeybee to the sweet prize. Unique. A real treasure.
