It's Genuine Mercon V
Just what I needed, and what you should use in your 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. Or any older ford/Mercury/Panther Car.. This is the proper viscosity compared to the equivalents sold out there. Worked great for my fluid and filter change

The right stuff to do my truck
If you own 90s ford its MERCON V the correct check owners manual may differ and say Mercon but not V but that is the spec for 90s for power steering and transmission. Mercon LV for transfer case.

I always use Genuine Ford Motorcraft parts and fluids whenever I can get ahold of them for maintenance of all my Ford vehicles. Amazon is a great source for finding this genuine Motorcraft Mercon-V ATF, because local auto parts store and big box stores seldom carry it in stock. There are substitutes of course, but then again, a can of spam is no substitute for a genuine smoked ham, and a bottle of generic atf is no substitute for Genuine Motorcraft Mercon-V ATF. I got the 5-quart to change the fluid in my Truck's manual 5-speed M5OD transmission. (Yep, Ford's manual trans M5OD takes Mercon-V ATF, believe it or not.) It only takes like 3.75 quarts, but it's nice to have a lil' extra just in case some spills, or to top it off later. A transmission rebuild or replacement can cost thousands, so why risk something like that by buying a cheap generic "one-size-fits-all" type fluid? Get Genuine Ford Motorcraft and keep your Ford happy! It's cheaper in the long run.

Buying a good quality product is very important.

This was for the transfer case, not the transmission...
I was changing the fluid in my transfer case. Because it's in a firm plastic container and I'm trying to pour it into the transfer case, it was very messy. If it had been in a soft enclosure, like the 75W-90 fluid for the front differential, it would have been much easier to work with. I finally got it done, but spilled about a pint of it.
