All Hope Is Gone

このアルバムはジョーイとポールが参加した最後のアルバムです。 この2人はslipknotが、のし上がるためにとても功績を残した人物です。 そして、なんと言ってもslipknotと言えばジョーイのドラムでしょう、ジョーイのドラム ポールのベースを聴きたい人は是非手に取って頂きたい作品です。

Slipknotの最高傑作。そして、このメンバーラインナップでの最後の作品。 前作では、Slipknotはマイルドな曲も作れることを証明した。しかしながら、激しかったリフや音作りまでマイルドになってしまった。今作では歌えるメロディが多くありつつ、メタルとして聴いていて楽しいギターリフのオンパレード。音作りもガチガチで文句なし。ライブでは披露されないが「Gematria (The Killing Name)」はSlipknot史上最高のメタルソング。リフが素晴らしい。クールな速弾きソロまである。 前作の感動ソング「Vermilion」のように、「Dead Memories」も泣ける名曲の一つ。デスメタル系が苦手な人にもお勧めできる。Corey Taylorは泣ける曲を作るのが上手い。 ラストのタイトル曲「All Hope Is Gone」は集大成と言える一曲。メンバー全員の音がはっきりと聞こえる。全く泣けるような曲ではないが、今聴くとメインで作曲していた2人を思い出して泣けてくる。自分が初めて聴いたヘヴィメタルで、当時の自分にとっては早送りだと思うくらいのイントロだった。 もう15年以上経つアルバムだが、いまだに古さを感じない。

曲の質が軽くなったという意見もあると思いますが、 stone sourが好きな自分としては非常に聴きごたえがあります。 初代アルバム、またバンド結成前に自費出版したアルバムなどに比べると、 確かにメタルとしての破壊力は劣っていると思います。 バンドの方向性も変わってきていますが、自分はこれに賛成です。 いい意味で進化、深化しているのではないでしょうか？ 4曲目はSlipKnotっぽさ、またコリィの歌唱力がよく出ている曲で、お気に入りです♪ この沈黙の4年間、またそれぞれのソロ活動としての4年間が凝縮された1枚です！！

ノイズの洪水で頭が痛くなる、だから聴かない。 とSlipknotを毛嫌いしていたメタルファンを 「なんだ、よく聴くといい曲が多いじゃないか」 と思わせることが出来たターニングポイントなアルバムが 前作「Subliminal Verses Vol.3」だが、 今作もその路線を引き継いでいると思う。 初期ファンは離れたかもしれないが、新規ファンを獲得出来たのは 今後もSlipknotが活動し続けるのであれば、吉と出たはず。 ミュージシャンも人間。40代近くにもなれば若い頃のように 攻撃的な音楽に演奏側が飽きたり疲れるのも仕方ないし、 コリィ･テイラーのカリスマ的なる歌の巧さを 単なる咆哮だけで終わらせるには本当に勿体無いことだと、 ファンは勿論、コリィ自身も気付いてるのは間違いない。 ポール亡き今、次作の曲作りでコリィが全面的に参加すれば SlipknotはStone Sourの音楽性に飲み込まれる危険性もあるかもしれない。 それも個人的には大歓迎だけどね。

歌詞カードを付けてくれるのは嬉しい。 しかし、デザインが凝りすぎ、所々逆版になっていたり写真で文字が潰れていたり 曲がどれも良いだけに、そこで興醒めになるのが残念。

名曲「Psychosocial」が収録されています。初めて聴いた時「これぞヘヴィメタル！」と感動した覚えがあります。基本的にシャウトですが、サビのクリーンボイスがとても心地良いです。まだメタルを聴いたことがない方にもおススメできる作品です。

スリップノットとストーンサワー？が混ざった。両方好きなので買って良かったです。

どの曲もみんな迫力、演奏パフォーマンスもかっこよくて凄い感動した。

This is a review for the special edition cd/dvd with 3 bonus songs. The album itself is a mixed bag of melody and rage,buzzsaw guitars and lots of heavy drumming & precussion. The samples and turntables are toned down a bit on this album,Corey's voice is on point. Mixing some of the oldschool hardcore aggressive vocals and then the more melodic songs and vocals. The heaviest tracks being(in my opinion) Gematria:The Killing Name,Vendetta,Butcher's Hook,This Cold Black,Wherein Lies Continue & All Hope is Gone. The more melodic more tame songs are the singles,Sulfer,Dead Memories,Psychosocial and Gehenna is a mix of both heavy and melodic just like Snuff(the most mellow of songs but hauntingly beautiful. Excellent guitar work,the bass is laid on thick and heavy,excellent drums and precussions. Now to the bonus songs, Child of Burning Time is a mellow track kinda reminiscent of Stonesour. Vermilion Pt.2(Bloodstone Mix) that i actually enjoyed & i'm not a huge fan remix but this one i enjoyed. Til' We Die is my favorite of the 3 bonus songs it is mellow but excellent guitars and vocals. Now to the dvd portion,the dvd isn't really that special but it was nothing major. You don't get to hear anything from the band giving their opinion of the album or talking to the camera. I would have expected a bit more,like some interview footage. They blurred out Craig Jones face(#5) but you can still see it. You get too see them push a car and light fireworks. Then they show Sid(#0) with his mask mold and then you see Corey(#8) in the vocal booth. About 1-2 minutes of each member messing with their gear and laying down notes. Then you see them wkimg with the big heads from the Psychosocial video and it is only 32 minutes long. Nothing special but the special edition i got for the extra songs. If you don't already have th album i'd suggest you get this(it was cheaper than the original) go get this album you'll enjoy it.

Pour moi c'est leur meilleur album à ce jour (2017). Pourquoi ? Parce qu'il regroupe à peu près tout ce qu'ils savent faire, et aussi parce qu'il est de loin le plus homogène. Car si Slipknot a d'excellents morceaux sur chacun de ses albums, il y a aussi beaucoup de morceaux assez moyens (pour ne pas dire médiocres) et vite oubliés, et c'est ce qui me gène généralement avec ce groupe tellement talentueux mais souvent très irrégulier. C'est aussi pour ça que leur best-of (Antennas to Hell) est plutôt le CD que je recommanderais à ceux qui veulent découvrir Slipknot sans se taper toute la discographie, car ils regroupent tous leurs morceaux phares... sauf un, et non des moindres, et qui est pour moi la perle de cet album et probablement leur titre le plus réussi : "Gematria". 6 minutes de pure rage et de virtuosité, Slipknot au sommet de son art. Si vous voulez savoir ce qu'est Slipknot, alors écouter ce morceau en priorité (le prélude ".execute" met parfaitement dans l'ambiance). Ce titre à lui seul justifie l'achat de l'album, mais heureusement, il n'y a pas que lui, car le reste est également de top niveau, notamment les plus connus "Sulfur" et "Psychosocial" avec leurs mélodies entêtantes, sans oublier "Dead Memories", plus mainstream dirons certains mais c'est aussi une des facettes (récentes) du groupe. Peut-être que Corey Taylor est allé un peu trop loin dans l'influence Stone-Sour (son autre groupe) de Slipknot avec la power ballad "Snuff", mais là encore rien d'alarmant car le titre est réussi et tous les groupes de Métal s'y sont mis un jour ou l'autre. Les morceaux "Vendetta", "Butcher's Hook", "Gehema", "This Cold Black" et "Wherein Lies Continue" ont tous leur style et intérêt propre, trouvant grâce aux yeux des fans, peut-être un peu moins au yeux des profanes, mais ils méritent qu'on s'y attarde car ils sont plus consistants et réussis que bon nombre des titres qui "remplissent" les autres albums de Slipknot. Le final "All Hope is Gone", sorte de mélange Nu-Métal très puissant, achève admirablement ce CD et finit de me convaincre que cet album est bien un excellent opus que tout fan de Metal doit avoir en magasin dans sa collection pour l'écouter, et le réécouter à foison.
