Q: Is this wheat orzo or white orzo

It is "regular pasta" if you mean is it regular or the more brown, "wheat" type as with White Bread and Whole Wheat or Multi-Grain. This is the more authentic "Italian Syle" and is wonderful. It has a great "chew" or mouth feel and is good in any number of pasta recipes and also as a RICE substitute. I got a few cases of this because the local grocery chains even now have little or no Orzo pasta. It is safely packaged as individual retail boxes in a sturdy outer-box. I recommend repacking into jars or mylar bags (with oxygen absorbers) for long-term planning.

Q: Can someone give me an idea of how big this pasta is? Is it truly the size of rice, or is it bigger than that?

Not to be mistaken for pastina, it is a good pasta. A little larger than the size of rice.

Q: is this 16 boxes at 16oz. each or did I read that wrong?

Each box is a full pound of orzo (16 ounces) and I believe it was a total of 16 boxes. I can no longer find this orzo at any of our local grocery stores, but our son can find it in Cincinnati Kroger stores. It is, bar non the absolute best or o you can buy. Perfect every time.
