Heavy Tournament Triple Weighted Chess Pieces with 3 3/4" King

Great, just waiting on a larger chess board to arrive since this are considerably larger than previous pieces.

I ordered these chess pieces for a board which my brother had recently made for me. I have another board that is nice, with smaller metal pieces and I wanted larger pieces for this new board. They are definitely larger. They fill the squares on the board. At first, I thought they were a little too big, but as I have played with them a couple of times I like the size more an more. I like the weight of the pieces, and because the board was one hand made by my brother as a gift, I appreciate that he pieces all have felt on the bottom. The pieces are plastic, but to not look or feel cheap. I struggled with purchasing this plastic set or a wooden set to match the board, but could not find a wooden set at a reasonable price with a design that I liked. I do like the design of these pieces, they are more elaborate that the wooden pieces I had to choose from. Another thing that I really enjoy with this set is the additional queen. I have only had the opportunity to use it once, but it was nice to have. The only criticism that I had was that the box they were packaged in came apart in shipping, the order included several other items so they were contained in the larger shipping box from Amazon and there was no damage to the pieces. I am very satisfied with these chess pieces for the function and price. I may eventually purchase a wooden set that matches the chessboard, but I know that I will not find a satisfactory set unless I pay 5-10 times more than I paid for these.

These are great chess pieces for a person who wants to play with them every day and not worry about putting wear and tear on their good set. Scratches don't tend to show either.NEUTRALS:Not much detail to pieces: These are not meant to be flashy pieces and it is very easy to tell apart all of the units but there are hardly any fine details.CONS:The Felt on the Bottom feels a bit low quality: The felt on the bottom feels very thin and I had to use a bit of glue on the bottom of a pawn to keep it on.Bottom Line: Great quality pieces with a good feel to them. Weighting is about perfect but the felt on the bottom feels lacking.
