Great tool to learn Bluetooth Low Energy communications
I bought this to learn more about BTLE communications and am pleased with how well it works. Be sure to read the ubertooth.sourceforge.net website for latest drivers and firmware. The loaded firmware was quite old and was incompatible with the latest drivers. The software includes the latest firmware and utility to update the device. I have been using it with Wireshark but it can also be used to capture packets for post processing.

Legit shnoz -but no parrot on nostril, no nav charts, no GPS
Legit shnoz here, but don't expect to open your package and see a rain slicker donning shnoz, parrot perched on nostril, gazing at you expectantly with wide-eyed wonder, holding it's compass, navigational chart, and GPS, ready and possessing the relevant reference material to take on and conquer the high seas on your first solo voyage. Get experience in ocean voyaging, read all materials by the 10th century Danish king, Harald -something or another.. I dunno his last name, I'm pretty clueless about all that historical, like, stuff'n things.. but this is not for the uninformed, you should be like, totes, into, like, binary and like, coding stuff, like fersher. Totes fersher.

Works well. A little bit of work to get it set up correctly within Linux, but it is a good product for assessing Bluetooth.

After unpackaging the contents, the Uber tooth apparently sniffed some freaking packet. then shot out the open kitchen window. I mean I'll find it, the device is built sturdy enough.

Device is authentic
At first I thought this product wasn't legit but boy it's the real deal. Ubertooth One. Legit and assembled in the case for you. Nice mil spec looking enclosure.So if you aren't familiar with this product, I highly highly recommend getting familiar with it before you buy it. This IS NOT a blue tooth adapter. It's not a typical piece of computer hardware. It does not come with drivers. You have to compile your own drivers. There is not really much support for this device out there. You have to build and compile the applications that will use it as well. So if you are expecting to buy this to hack bluetooth... think again. Do some research. It is a bluetooth analyzer of epic proportions. It can pull information about bluetooth traffic that nothing else can as long as you know how to program...
