I'm happy with this window guard.
The dark bronze color blends nicely with bronze framed windows and the product is much sturdier than one I had previously ordered. Also, the top bar reaches almost half way up the window opening so it provides greater protection for young children. I did not install so I can't comment on any installation issues. I have a solid cedar home so 3" screws were used to attach to wall.

Repurposed for intrusion deterrence
The item was packaged with the wrong instructions. However, it's a simple product so I had no problems there. It is labeled with a warning to not use with casement windows. The vendor did not display this warning on amazon.com and I would have been within my rights to return the product. This warning is irrelevant if the use case is intrusion deterrence on a ground level casement window. The item is virtually identical to products meant for intrusion deterrence. I selected this product because of width - the normal vendor I would use does not support wide windows. Installation was easy as expected. The windows are taller than optimal, so I added an additional bar above this unit which could be removed for emergencies, but is not necessary to remove in terms of escape from fire. Pity that the Segal company won't provide instruction or product to serve markets other than child barriers. The 3-star rating accounts for my frustration of dealing with the seller and the product.

This windows guard looks heavy duty, but the instruction of installation not that clear.

Do Not Purchase!
The product comes with a strange screw that does not work well with a philip head nor a flat tip screw driver. You get minimal and inconsistent purchase. Installing would be a nightmare! I gave up on the second screw. If this requires a special tool, it should come with. If they think the screws will work with standard tools, then they live in a different plane of reality than you or I.

Protect me
Construction is good. But I used a much sturdier screw to attach to my wall. I had to drill the hole for the latch pin. It really needs to have 2 latch pins, so I will probably add another.
