Thought the Ultra Sound Bar and the P700 together were amazing .. but after adding the P700 to the system, the experience has been simply out of the world. Just love it. Wish assembly instructions were clear and would expect less of wires from BOSE!

I originally purchase the 700 soundbar and sub because of the ability to have rear speakers, something my Cinemate II system lacked. I did not purchase the rears at the same time and as I looked at some online reviews I became doubtful on the need and quality. Complicating the decision was whether to go with the 180-surround set or the full 360 Bose 700 set. Because of the extra money and peoples comments I was not going to go for the 700’s. But I decided to give them a try first to see, figuring I could always return if I did not like them. Well with the first night they were hooked up I knew I was keeping them, I can’t believe the other reviews and I have to question those people’s setup or expectations. You add the rear speakers to a system to help fill the room with sound and these little speakers do that completely. Now important to realize your sound output has to support 5.1 or you won’t hear any sound out of them. So, as I watch YouTube, I hear nothing out of them, which is expected. Then while some shows make use a little out of them like Suits, that shows creators have chosen not to really use 5,1 and to be honest it does not really need to. But that does not mean a drama could not do a better job. For example, Mindhunters uses 5.1 amazingly and I am hearing sounds I did not know existed. Prior to adding the rears, I heard good sound out of the sound bar, but after I would hear all the background noises. A lot of the show happens in jails and you hear the closing and opening of jail cells. In the background This is just lower level back ground noise, but completely adds the show. Now watch Star Wars or 6 Underground on Netflix and you will be blown away with the room filling sound between the soundbar, the sub and now the rear 700’s it just completes the entire setup. I had read the speakers were small, but not having seen them prior to my Amazon order I was surprised how small they actually were. But this is a complete plus, they hide nicely in the room, but the sound is amazingly strong. I did turn them up in the app to hear more, but that’s why the feature exists, some seem to say that as a downside. Remember your rear speakers do not produce all the sound and are meant only for specific ones that the show’s creators decide will add value to the show you are watching and in my mind these speakers knock it out of the park. I had intended to also pick up the 180 set to compare and maybe save some money. But in the end, I am too happy with the 700’s that I know longer intend to do the comparison and keep what I got. So, I cannot answer whether you could save some money and get the same out of the cheaper Bose speakers. But I can say you should not be disappointed with the 700’s and let’s be honest if you are looking to save money you don’t buy Bose. You buy Bose because you know you are getting superior sound and quality, but it is at a price. I also find that more expensive Bose systems do usually offer better sound then their cheaper cousins, but that’s just my opinion.

I went for the ultra sound bar and the subwoofer. Yes it's pricey, but got them on sale. I was waiting for the satellite speakers to go on sale, but they never did. So I bit the bullet and got them too because although the sound bar and subwoofer sound great on their own, I felt something was missing especially when listening to music, and I do listen to a lot of music. I have an extensive collection. I will say that they do make a difference in the sound of the system. They definitely improve the soundstage, as well as the Dolby Atmos experience when watching movies, etc. They sound good. I did put the cloth over them when I ran the adaptec setup. I actually feel the volume of these is quite sufficient in fact I've had to tone them back a little bit. They are not meant for bass, but these add to that all around you sound filling the room. I had a 9.1 setup at my last house so I am familiar with how the rear speakers sometimes are not in the mix at all and other times are extremely in the mix. So IMO, it's all in what you want out of the system. This is not a quadrophonic stereo like we had in the 70's where all 4 speakers blasted out equally. But for a mostly unobtrusive setup, this is very good. The Bose App let's you tweek the volume easily. One other comment I will mention about the app is that you can add addional Bose Soundlink speakers in other rooms, or outside. I love that.
