Gerber Suspension NXT

This multi-tool from Gerber is extremely well made and is certain to stand up to most tasks you could throw at it. The silver model I have comes with 15 tools and, I would say, three features (the packaging only claims two, those being a Pocket Clip and a Lanyard Hole). I would add the tool lock as a clear feature, as this helps make all the other tools work properly. The chunky feel is industrial in nature, with cut-out making it appear more like an aviation tool. This multi-tool is ideal for anyone who needs a good, cheap and reliable tool for EDC or for a gift.

Actually for this ridiculously low price I just cannot fault my Gerber Suspension NXT. This is my backup tool and I have a suite of Leathermans each for particular jobs and places, but they retail over 100 GBP each. This Gerber is the emergency tool for the Car glove box. This Gerber feels great in the hand and has a lockable blades and all the tools I'd expect at this price point. Spring loaded pliers too. I really can't understand the severely negative reviews I've seen posted. This is a QUALITY constructed tool, easy to use, with a whole host of blades and tool ends. REALLY RECOMMENDED as *the* entry level multi tool.

Great item, really solid pliers - way better than my previous Swiss army penknife. I didn't find it stiff as some people have mentioned although taking some of the tools out is a bit more tricky as there aren't finger nail grooves to use. The locking/unlocking catch for tools once in use is good for peace of mind - I'm not worrying about the tool closing on my hadn't while in use!

Overall good multitool, not perfect but good. Dislikes - the locking mechanism works well but is not the easiest to operate, the file / ruler is hard to get to as the opening is stiff and the pocket clip gets in the way / the ruler feature is useless as curved and not graded to the mm / there is a tiny bit of play when closed but not much / I wish manufacturers would stop putting locking knives blades on this type of tool as it makes it useless in the UK. Likes - overall quality is good and the tool feels sturdy / good pliers / good combo opener tool / can be taken apart for deep clean / easy to open and close / tools are accessible when closed / handle won't pinch you when using the pliers / tools do not clump so you can pull one without the whole lot popping up / feels comfortable in hand with no hot spot / price is unbeatable, cheaper than some unknown brands Compared to the Rebar: the leatherman is better finished, the locking mechanism is simple, it seems more solid and the pliers are better. This is where the qualities of the Rebar end, in use it is an absolute pain. First of all closing it is an accident waiting to happen. It is far too stiff. The edge of the file is in direct contact with your skin when using the pliers, also it will pinch you if not careful. The tools are inside so you need to open the tool to get to them, they also clump together making it tricky. This is particularly true for the awl, you need to get the scissors out first to access it then try to get them down while holding the awl blade.... Ridiculous The Gerber is overall much nicer to use, it may not be of quite the same quality but it works better. If you want to spend more for a high end tool then you should consider victorinox. Their Swisstool is way better than the rest in use.

Value for money

Gr8 value Gerber product bought on offer on Amazon with free delivery. This was highly discounted at time of purchase on Amazon and was significantly the cheapest across the Internet for this same product. Bought as a present for a friend, who reports they are very pleased with it, it appears well built, sturdy, is very practical and looks the part. Gerber could improve this product even more by providing a trouser/shorts pouch or sheaf for the Multitool within the pack, even if this was made of nylon with Velcro fastening etc. This wouldn't cost much on overheads, but would instantly make the product more attractive/desirable to buyers as well as making the item more practical to use and safely securing whilst not in use. Apart from no pouch being provided by Gerber, product recommended.

Sehr gutes Tool vor allem für den Preis. Der einzige Nachteil ist, dass das messer recht kurz und klein ist. Außerdem wäre eine Säge vielleicht noch nett gewesen aber das weiß man ja wenn man es kauft.

No es una Leatherman, pero por su precio ofrece mucho más de lo que esperaba. La calidad es muy buena para ser gama media, y en comparación con otras multiherramientas de precio similar, no tiene mucho que envidiarle a marcas más caras. De hecho, algunas de las herramientas incluidas no las suelen traer las Leatherman de gama media, lo que hace que este modelo tenga ciertos extras útiles que realmente se aprecian en el día a día. Para quien busque una multiherramienta resistente, funcional y económica, este Gerber es una opción muy recomendable. Buena construcción, fácil de llevar con el clip de cinturón y perfecta para tareas domésticas, bricolaje o actividades al aire libre sin invertir una fortuna.
