I wear medium. Is it large too big for me?

I am a medium (32w) and I had to get a large for my package alone. Mediums feels like I'm being squeezed down there and not in a good way!

know they do in some place, plus have some all white, waist band included, didn't check when/where I bought these as I didn't want white
