Review: Evil - Firstly, the book is very biased, and the author is very personal. No wonder for that, as anyone whose family would live in that period would be . Read the book for the history of that period it is phenomenal. Book could have been much shorter but author has a point to put so she makes it a point to keep you interested. Now to mao. What to say about this bandit?pure evil.. . Only lesson I got from this book is that who is exploited in this world ? People who do not have power ... So come what may be knowledge in mind and be strong in body.. This book tells about all the evils in communism but don't worry it also tells how America also helped mao get power.. So if you are a weak country looking for a tent to be in communism or capitalism. My answer would be Be strong first and then make your own capitalistic society which benefits the poor ultimately...Do not be in any camp american or Russian... Review: Shocked - A shocking biography. Reverence by modern Chinese leaders of someone responsible for 70 million deaths is equally shocking.

Exhaustive narrative
Found this book to be likeable in the beginning and middle. But as you reach the end it begins to slow down ans repeat itself. However would recommend any “Mao” history buff to give it a read. Enjoy

BRILLIANT
From a very humble beginnings in a small desolate village in province of Jiangsi, rising to the pinnacle of power controlling the destiny of one fifth of humanity at the mere twich of his fingers and one who held a dream that transcended continents to dominate the globe , seriously he meant each word of it and if Chingiz Khan was a man who overawed you by his stoic blood lusting brilliance, well Mao is no lesser or meaner a soul , a scourge of God if you are not an atheist, a loony if you believe its a possibility but overall a grandiloquent, lustrous over-ambitious man who nearly spelled doom for mere few millions of his minion countrymen and would have spelled disaster for the world if and only if he had begotten the middle kingdom in a slight healthier spate. To rise from obscurity , challenging the writ of destiny at each stage and overcoming the odds not once but till the senility which came with ripened age, Mao is an living illustration or epitomisation if what a man, ordinary in every sense but irresolute in most, can achieve by a single minded focus and an overriding ambition. He could have been decimated many a times , expunged or effaced from the annals by many a enemies he made but to continually outwit them, over think them and rout them ruthlessly without ramnour, that only a Mao could do. Reading this marvel of a biography by a brilliant author is a joie de vivre if you could be forgiven to term this adrenalin hair raising spellbinding tome, revisiting the scale of the achievements of one and only Mao in the most lucid manner which would either make you hate the protagonist or you would be overawed by him, his cold-bloodedness, his ruthless calculative mind , his lack of empathy or sympathy, his brilliance on the global chessboard and his personna which demanded absolute subjugation. I AM ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSED BY MAO and there is no belittling the scourge of a man he was, his bestiality by any age in history but today China has proved it , a country controlled centrally , united , self serving guided by sheer coldness can become a world leader, a torchbearer courtesy, like it or not, is due to the blood cuttling , scheming and conniving of Mao.
