They work!
Without getting to detailed as to the reason for the purchase. I was able to use one of these combined with a smoke canaster. The result was a thick cloud of smoke saturated with the capsaicin oil. I placed both of them in the cab of a truck. Only a second or 2 and the cab was billowing out the window. My buddy, who's no slouch began immediately coughing, gagging, drooling, and even heaving after contact with the caustic smoke. I didn't have the same reaction, my throat did begin to tickle, and burn a bit that's just because I ain't no b****. As a far as time for the canaster to fully discharge, I'd say it was roughly 10-15 seconds. I couldn't say how long it stayed active in the truck, however I can with great enthusiasm say the owner of the vehicle hasn't come back.

Unreliable/Ineffective
I ordered it to test it. The the firing mechanism was completely defective. I had to hold down the trigger the entire time to get it to spray. I held it down until it was expended (right in front of my face) and got nothing but a minor caugh. It's no gas grenade. It might as well be a normal can of pepper spray. To test the agent inside I sprayed myself directly in the face as the can recommends you do to an attacker. It temporarily took me down (blinded me) but it took half a hour to do so. By the time it took effect I could of done anything I wanted. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD YOU USE THIS AS A SELF DEFENSE TOOL for yourself or a loved one. They are far better off with a simple knife.
