Good tool
Good pipe threader for the price. Was using it to install some RMC conduit and it did a great job. My only complaint is that the die pushes out of the handle somewhat too easily, but it's not a showstopper. The teeth did not seem to wear at all after a dozen uses, so the material is of decent quality. It is very, very important to use LOTS of oil. Put some in an oil can and squirt it every half a turn or so. Otherwise, the cutting action will not be smooth and you will get galling, poor results, and the tool will become dull quickly. This is true of an expensive threader, too.

A Must-Have for Serious DIY Plumbing
I needed to run a new gas line for a garage heater, which involved threading multiple sections of 1/2" and 3/4" black iron pipe, and decided to put this kit to the test. Right out of the case, the tool feels substantial. The dies snapped into the ratcheting head with a positive lock, and the reversing mechanism is simple and solid. I clamped a 3-foot section of pipe in my vise and got to work. Using a generous amount of dark cutting oil, the ratcheting action was smooth and provided excellent leverage, allowing me to apply steady, even pressure. It bit into the pipe immediately and started cutting clean, continuous spirals of metal. I backed it off a half-turn after every full rotation to clear the chips, as is standard practice. The process was demanding, as manual threading should be, but the tool handled the torque without any flexing or chatter. The most critical finding was the quality of the threads themselves. The high-speed steel dies are impressively sharp and well-machined. They produced clean, perfectly tapered NPT threads that were free of burrs or tears. I test-fit a black iron fitting onto each one, and they threaded on smoothly and tightened up perfectly after 3-4 turns, exactly what you want for a secure, leak-proof seal.

Works well
Threaded a 1” pipe with clean threads but took some grunting. Not as handy an electric threader but very economical and functional for a handyman with occasional use.

Affordable for around the house projects.
For the price it’s not bad for small projects. Make sure to oil while cutting and reverse often to break loose the cuttings.

Junk!!!! Time Waster
Junk!! The teeth broke after threading less than three full threads. I used plenty of oil even bought pipe cutting oil. Returned was not satisfied with quality at all had to go find a different solution to finish my project. Might work fine on soft materials. Didn’t work well on 3/4” black pipe for gas

It does the job for cheap It’s not that expensive a rigid set and the dies sit in the handle differently Had to file the 1/2” die inner diameter a bit to fit standard black pipe had paint build up in die Does the job Made 4 pipe sections so far Do not forget to use oil while cutting threads Too Much is just enough
