. . . they're OK. I bought them as an add-on so I could get to a certain amount and get a discount on shipping. Not so noble, I guess, but I *had* been looking for beads.That said, I wasn't expecting much, and so, was not disappointed. They are inexpensive. The light one looks cool, and as the varnish wears off, I like them even more. They have a rustic look about them. The dark one is cheap looking. They don't look right together. I dislike the black one.I haven't noticed any rub-off residue, as I read in various reviews. Nor are they engraved or embellished, as the last review states. Maybe they were years ago. They are as pictured. Too bad you can't scratch 'n sniff-the scent is overpowering. It's meant to be sandalwood, but smells more like Lemon Pledge.I really like the knot, but after less than a week, it started to come undone.In this case, I got what I paid for.Addendum-Months later, and the Zen knot remains. It is frayed a bit at the ends, but a bit of candle wax will take care of that. The main design remains. What I love most about this bracelet is that, over time, the color has changed. It's been through a blueish-brown phase, and now back to brown. I am therefore changing my 3 stars to 5 stars, as I find this transformation charming and interesting. Sometimes a simple add on can be breath-taking. This is now my new favorite.

My boyfriend and I split these malas. I got the light one and he the dark. The lighter beads are larger than the black ones. Also they weren't as smoothly carved or symmetrical. They have grooves and nicks in them while the black mala is smooth as glass and perfectly round. The knot in the black one isn't as pretty and flower shaped as the light one so don't expect them all to be perfect. The knots already have some straggler strings too. The differences worked out for us because I like the rougher, worn looking light beads while he likes the sharp looking black ones. Also something to be aware of is size. I have very tiny woman wrists and this fits me perfectly. My boyfriend on the other hand has a medium man wrist and his was a little small on him, not too much that it is annoying or leaves deep marks. It might just be the batch we got. I was so happy I got it earlier than the expected shipping too by about a week or so. Overall I'm pleased. They seem sturdy enough for everyday use.

First I want to thank Reorient, their shipping speed was incredible. I was not sure if these would be worth the money, but I gave it a try and what a surprise it was to open the package and find these two beautiful pray beads bracelets. The brown wood one has engraving of a Buddha and some written character, the black wood one is just plain black. I gave one to a friend for his birthday and for him to use for meditation, he loved it. This was a great, inexpensive gift, that I always get compliments on when I wear it, which is every day. I will be buying more from Reorient (they have a nice collection of Asian, Buddhist jewelry and meditation items. These mala beads are beautiful and they arrived to my home in excellent condition. They have a picture of the Buddha and the word "Buddha" in Kanji on alternating beads around the entire bracelet. They are shiny and have a slight, lovely odor to them (I assume from the lacquer). I kept the wooden one and gave the black one to a friend. The wooden one that I have does have a greenish tint, but I do not think that this is from fading as it arrived that way. All in all, I'm very happy with these mala beads.

These are good, but not quite the quality as their double-stringed mala  All Natural Handmade Green Sandalwood Prayer Bracelet -A01 . These are just a bit small for my less-than-average man's wrist, the beads are not quite the quality. But they're quite usable as worry beads.Note: the green ones have the light engraving, the black ones don't.

Pretty nice price for the set. However, they were too small for me and the beads too big (I was hoping for small beads, these are close to the size of a dime). While playing around with them, I noticed that stain on them felt like it was coming off and left kind of an odd film on my fingers. I can also see that the black ones would fade rather quickly and lose their shine. Also my sister swears they smell of pot, even from across the room, though I can't smell anything...

I love this set of malas. I've been using them for a few weeks now and I think they're great quality. The green mala has great detail carved into them and so far the black malas hasn't faded or lost color. I had this set ordered with two other malas with free shipping. They arrived within a week in good packaging. No delays or damages. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

happy with the product but mine aren't engraved so i'm a little sour about that... and that's the only reason this review isn't 5 stars...do NOT expect to get engraved ones, then you won't be disappointed... other than that, I love 'em. :)
