I spent ages reading reviews after my Phillips SmartSleep wake up clock suddenly stopped working after many many years of use. The Phillips one used to drive me mad because you can’t completely disable the sounds / radio. Neither of which I wanted. So every morning I had an annoying buzz as the untuned radio kicked in. I wanted a no frills wake up sunrise alarm and this is doing the job brilliantly. I compared lumens / lux on various models and this one goes brighter than the Phillips (and any others) which is noticeable at bedtime. It’s much better and brighter for reading by and sorting the children out with. When you put the light on it goes from off to bright on only a few steps which is better than having to cycle through 20 shades if white with the Phillips one. The build is ever so slightly cheaper than the Phillips but it’s certainly not going to fall apart. If I hadn’t read the comments here, I wouldn’t have even said anything. It’s still solid and firm! I prefer the clicky buttons to know I’ve pressed them. The Lumie lamp also taking up just a fraction of the space on my bedside table. The Phillips is huge and bulky. I struggled to pick it up as it’s a two handed job. This is so much neater and easy to pick up. I love the niche underneath to store excess cable too, I thought it would maybe the smaller size and different shape make a difference to the light quality but it hasn’t. Phillips claim the shape helps with theirs. But this is much brighter so feels better anyway. The buttons are far better situated on the front. The Phillips, even after years of use, was still a fumble every morning to try to hit the correct button. My 13 year old had this plugged in and programmed by the time I got upstairs! Very easy. Very intuitive. The only downside compared to the Phillips is you have to set the alarm every night (the Phillips could be left on alarm mode) but the flip side is I don’t need to remember to turn it off on weekends. It’s also simpler to change the time eg for weekends or holidays. The Phillips one always took time to get the correct programme. I tend to set the alarm in a morning so it’s on already for the next day. It’s one simple press of an obvious button. Unlike fumbling on the Phillips! I like the nightlight feature too - something not on my old one. I don’t generally need it but if a child is unwell then I can see it being very useful instead of having to leave the hall light on. I’m getting used to the red colour of sunset but I like it. I’m falling asleep faster. I did wonder if I would regret not getting another Phillips sunrise clock but no way! I prefer the Lumie by a long way. I didn’t need noises and radio so I saved a lot of money too. Whether it lasts as long as my Phillips clock remains to be seen. Right now I’m very happy. I made my choice based on the reviews along with my own experience and got a better product for less.

Its light so I could easily pack it to bring along my trips. Effective for waking me up (I have been struggling for months when I couldnt wake up before 14.00)

This light-up alarm clock has been a game-changer in our house. The clock gradually illuminates the entire bedroom so that, when the alarm sounds, my teenagers wake up to a fully lit space (rather than darkness). This is the only alarm clock my night owls DON'T sleep through! Hallelujah!
