safe way for kitty to enjoy the outdoors
I tried to convert my rescue stray cat to a strictly indoor cat, but he's not having it. After finally managing to get him to stay 3 weeks inside without venturing out, he figured out he can easily use the doggy door to make his exits. He's living inside for almost a year and never showed any interest, but now that he wants out, he found a way. He's fixed, but I guess he wants some cat friendship.I purchased another cat harness but it was way too small so I found this one. I got the medium for my almost 11-pound cat and it fits very well, maybe even a little loose. I'm not concerned that if he wriggles out of it, he will be lost. He's way too street smart for that, and he knows where his cat food cans live. I just think that if he was able to enjoy the outdoors safely, it would be better than keeping him cooped up inside. It's especially hard on him to see his dog sisters leave for their daily walks and he's stuck indoors.The harness looks cute and I think it will work. Being that he's a little jumpy, I am making him wear the harness every day for a few minutes more each day, and having him wear it during feeding times. Once he's fairly used to it, we will try going outdoors with it. I doubt there will be a lot of actual walking, not like with the dogs, but I think he will like to "patrol" the front yard and maybe the neighbors' yard.
