Freida did it again !!!!
The Tenant – On the surface, Blake seems to have it made: he’s rolling in success, recently climbed the corporate ladder with a big promotion, and is engaged to Krista. The two are dreaming big, all set to build a picture-perfect life in their charming Brownstone. But just when things seem to be going his way, life throws him a curveball. Blake’s career hits a rough patch, and before they know it, he and Krista are strapped for cash. With bills piling up and no other choice, they put out feelers for a tenant to help cover the mortgage. To ease their financial burden, Krista suggests they rent out one of their spare rooms. After sitting through a string of nightmare applicants, the perfect tenant finally walks through the door—Whitney, a striking young woman in need of a place to crash. At first, everything seems to fall into place… until things start to go off the rails. Blake can’t shake the feeling that something’s seriously off. The question is—can he get to the bottom of it all before things spiral completely out of control? One thing I absolutely love about Freida’s writing is the fast-paced nature of her books and the punchy, shorter chapters—this one delivered exactly that. I also really enjoyed the male POV; it was refreshing and added a unique layer to the story as his unraveling played out. It was thoroughly entertaining, and I was hooked by the concept of Blake questioning his own sanity. The story does a brilliant job of highlighting how people’s actions—and the ripple effects of those choices—can influence our own behavior, even in those who seem the most grounded and put-together.When it comes to a Freida McFadden book, you know we have to talk about the twist—and this one did not disappoint! It was sharp, unexpected, and had that classic Freida flair. I had a hunch about how things might end, but I definitely didn’t expect it to go that far. I love how Freida consistently delivers those wild, off-the-wall endings that somehow manage to work perfectly—they're bizarre, bold, and so much fun. This was a solid 5/5 ⭐️ read for me! I’d highly recommend it to all mystery lovers—you’ll want to binge this in one sitting. And if you’re not typically into mysteries, give this one a shot anyway. It might just be the book that reignites your love for the genre!

Looking for an unexpected treat?
Last June I discovered the Housemaid and after that I just couldn't get enough of Freida's books and have been reading as many of her books as I could possibly find . I admit I have loved almost every one of them. When I found out a new book was being published I was so excited I even got both the ebook and the audiobook on the publishing date. So many people had gotten advanced copies and had for months bragged about how good the book was, so I admit those of us that hadn't been given one were biting at the bit dying to read the book. Because of this my expectations were probably much too high. I was surprised at first. I admit I really wasn't enjoying what I was reading and hearing at the beginning chapters of the book. The main characters were not really that likeable and it was making it hard to continue but I had paid for the audiobook so I was determined to continue. I wasn't disappointed and as the book went on it kept getting better and better and I realized why the recommendations had been so high. So I give the book 4 stars. I recommend it for those that are looking for a truly unpredictable psychological thriller story. I promise you will never ever guess the ending.

Freida did her big one!
Time and time again she kills the thriller game?! Frieda girl when do you sleep?! I gobbled this book up and still can't believe that plot twist!Imagine being at the top of your game and then it all suddenly comes crashing down around you. Well that's exactly where Blake finds himself and the worse part is he never saw it coming! Then enters Krista the seemingly perfect Fiancée who loves Blake with all heart supports him and can’t wait to marry Blake and have his babies or does she?!Blake and Krista find themselves needing a new tenant since Blake has lost his job and well things are just going downhill so here comes the beautiful, charming & down to earth Whitney who seems to be the perfect tenant and just what Blake is looking for. Or is she?!Well something is not right Blake can’t get any sleep his home is filled with an absolutely disgusting stench and on top of it all he can’t seem to get rid of those pesky fruit flies! His neighbors are acting weird and just when he thought he couldn’t take it anymore Krista leaves him!The trap is set and Blake doesn’t even know it and if he doesn’t do something fast he just might end up dead! This book was absolutely amazing but the plot twist is what really got me because just like the inmate I will be thinking about this one for a while! I can’t wait to read the next one because Frieda did his big one!

Not nearly as good as this author’s other books
I’ve been binge reading books by this author, this is my 5th in the last few weeks. This was by far my least favorite. I still gave it three stars because it was a fast page turner & I have a lot of good will towards this other, but arguably I could go as low as 2 stars. The first half of the book was reading about a nice guy getting gaslighted like crazy, I could just feel my blood pressure rising reading it. Not enjoyable for the reader. The, pretty quickly after the half way point we learn the biggest twist, and then replay the first half of book explaining who was actually the one behind the gaslighting. The second half goes quickly & there’s another minor twist late in the book, but the story is pretty well wrapped up long before the book ends. I really, really disliked the last chapter. It’s not needed. And it drastically lowers the quality of the book IMO. After reading a lot of good books by this author I guess we’re bound to eventually get a dud. I think this one is clearly a dud.
