Great Product, Terrible packaging
Gentrol itself works very well—the product does exactly what it promises when it comes to eliminating bugs. I was really pleased with the results the first time I used it. Unfortunately, the packaging ruins the experience. The last two cans I purchased stopped working while still more than half full. The sprayers simply would not release any product, no matter how I tried to fix them. At $23 per can, this is unacceptable. Not only is it frustrating to pay for product you can’t use, it’s also incredibly wasteful to throw away half-full cans. For something marketed at a premium price point, I expect more reliable packaging. Gentrol is effective, but unless the company improves the quality of the cans and spray nozzles, I can’t recommend it. Customers shouldn’t have to gamble on whether or not their can will actually work.

Saved my home!!!!
Two years ago my daughter begged me to allow a homeless friend of hers to move in to our home. In typical no good deed goes unpunished fashion she brought German roaches with her. We saw the first roach a couple weeks after she moved in and the kept getting progressively worse. We are not dirty people but tI still could not get rid of these bugs. I literally tried everything in the local market. I spent well over a 1000 dollars on bug bombs sprays baits and gels. each one would reduce the number of bugs for a short time but they never went away and then after a short time they were back. I tried calling professionals but they just tried to rope me into a one year expensive "abatement" contract where they were unwilling to promise results. A friend told me about combining Advion Cockroach Gel with Gentrol (buggy birth control). I put down new advion and sprayed Gentrol every week for a month. When I first used advion I actually saw more bugs for a week but they were zombie bugs. Staggering around even during the day and eventually dying. They were easy to step on because they were slow and disoriented. So I would recommend timing it so you have at least 2 weeks with no guests. But by week 3 I was only seeing them if I looked really hard, and it was a bad infestation, so bad I was ready to sell my house. I have not seen a single bug in a week. It is like I can finally breath again. I can not say if this would work in an apartment unless you treat the whole building. But this defiantly worked for my house. But again it is the combination of advion and gentrol that gets the results. Advion kills most of the roaches even resistant ones. The gentrol keeps the eggs from hatching and makes the few that survive the poison sterile so it does not start again.

Must Re-Order every 3 months for Effectiveness
AMAZING PRODUCT- Note: you MUST re apply spray every 3 MONTHS to maintain it. But def. Worth it. Noticed german roaches started dropping dead after 3 days and after 1 week completely disappeared.

used in concert with other products successfully against roaches
I have been using this for the past month, in concert with both Dupont Advion Cockroach Bait Arenas all over my kitchen, and also taking action to block all the more obvious entry points into my kitchen from which bugs tend to appear. I put away all foods & food preparation tools in my kitchen, covered most surfaces with sheets, and did a good spray. Then left all the apartment windows open over night and slept elsewhere. I have to say this stuff smells utterly toxic, despite all the notices about how it's harmless for humans/animals and ok to use in kitchens etc. And after handling the product for the spraying some of my skin tingled and felt numb. But I went and took a good long shower and felt fine the next morning. The next day there were no odors in my apartment. In the first week there were many dead adults laying in the kitchen; after 2-3 weeks I was not seeing any more full grown adults, only babies. So I assumed that this IGR spray was slowly taking effect. Because I was still seeing some bugs around after 2-3 weeks, I also started leaving another product out a bit (Harris Roach Tablets), which I'd held back on up to this point, because I'd read that this Advion was better for bringing long term killing back to the nests. As opposed to these tablet which only kill the bugs that eat it (and which baby roaches can't always chew on properly). And now, 4 weeks later, I am not seeing any bugs at all. Success! But I cannot be sure which product did the most damage. A multi pronged approach is definitely recommended. Remember, this IGR is not a bug killer, it's a bug growth/development inhibitor which if they come in contact with it, prevents bugs from becoming healthy egg-laying reproducing adults. We shall see how much longer this spray is effective in my first application. I don't really savor the thought of having to do any more applications to be honest.

Expensive but worth it
I use this, and another Gentrol variety of the same product that has insecticide in it as well. (Gentrol Complete). This one does not. have insecticde So I can use it in spaces that are more exposed in the kitchen and likewise because I have a pet. But now when I see a palmetto bug here in Florida dying, I see it release its egg sac, as they ofen do when dying… and my scientific little son likes to cut them open to see what’s inside. Answer: nothing. some may not want to use this because if babies are born it produces sometimes slightly deformed babies but they die quickly and are unable to reproduce. I don’t get many palmetto bugs but this really helps. I also had a totally unexpected infestation of German cockroaches and they disappeared entirely within a week. I have bought this several times and will continue to use it as a precaution. I really love Gentrol products
