Flavor reminds me of Fee Brothers Aztec Chocolate Bitters, which is also very good. This one isn’t quite as strong so I use more of it, but that has advantages, too, because it comes in a large bottle with a nice eye-dropper-style dispenser, allowing you to get the perfect amount every time, versus the inconsistency of the “2-3 dash” method. This one goes really well with a richer syrup, such as Demerara or even 100% maple syrup. Garnish optional but it goes well with a slick of orange peel and/or a dark cherry. The label says it also goes well with dark rum or even an aged tequila. I haven’t tried those yet, but I like the idea, as old fashions have been around since before ice was readily available (a long time). Back then, they just called them “cocktails” and there were certainly not limited to bourbon or rye. In fact, I ended up with some strange alcohol distilled from coconut palms that I didn’t like and didn’t know what to do with recently, but this turned even that into an old fashioned cocktail that was rather pleasant. It’s amazing how transformational a high quality bitters can be. And this is one bitters I’ll keep in stock.

These bitters are a game changer - love the brand, up your cocktail game! The pop flavor cuts through without overpowering. Bittermans is my secret weapon at the bar.

This is literally the only bitters I like. It has a good chocolate flavor with some background complexity from the spices, not overwhelming. 4 stars because there is sediment in the bottle, which can give an unpleasant grittiness to the drink. Avoid this by using the dropper to suck from the top of the bottle.

This particular bitter is lighter in color. Not as opaque once compared to other similar items like the fee brothers Aztec chocolate. This item is extremely unique. Flavor profile is complex with nots of cocoa and baking spices. If you’re trying to decided between this one and the other mentioned keep in mind that this one is a bit more on the savory side and would pair well with more aged spirits.

This is a great bitter to add to old fashioneds and other cocktails. It’s rich with a great subtle taste that is there and not overbearing. So many options with it…whiskey cocktails, tequila and mezcal. And this bottle lasts. Very fair pricing, too
