Simple, easy to read, dependable, and affordable: all the important stuff!
Its just a fine time piece for daily wear. Its light, its super easy to read both day and night. Its comfortable and it looks good on your arm. What more can you ask of a watch? If you want "fancy" go buy some high dollar metal case thing and pay three or four (or more) times what this watch cost. If you want to know what time it is and not spend a bunch of money, this is your baby. You can find cheaper watches, but you will not find a better watch at this price. I know, I have been wearing out watches for decades! My work is hard on watches. Things like using power tools, impact tools, hammers, welders, etc. These watches have never failed me and have lasted longer than watches costing far more. I got my first Timex watch nearly sixty years ago. I am still buying them as I have found nothing else that is more accurate or holds up under harsh conditions any better. You get what you pay for except with Timex. They give you MORE than you paid for.

Great purchase
The perfect watch for my eyes. White background with black hour and the second hand. Standard stuff… It’s all about the simple things that matter to me. The indigo green light might not appeal to everyone (look at the price). The band is fabric with Velcro to adjust. I’ve work this watch day and night. A near perfect fit. Easy to adjust and it’s comfortable for me, the look is just right for me. A no brainer to set up immediately. Time (?) will tell about minute creep or over all durability, A nice affordable watch that I I’ll wear everyday under all conditions. If I loose it I’ll buy another one.

Nice watch, but scratches easily.
I received my Timex Men's T49713 Expedition Camper watch in two days using Amazon Prime. It is exactly as pictured, though the face is slightly smaller than I expected. Everything works perfectly and the legendary Timex Indiglo works great when the lights go out. The calender numbers are not illuminated, however. A few folks mentioned loud ticking, but I live in Houston and can't hear it unless I put the watch against my ear. ;) Many complained about the length of the nylon mesh band. I'm a big guy and the band fits fine, but normally these bands are longer. You can buy longer "normal" mesh bands for just a few bucks, though, so no biggie. Just a word of caution for folks who haven't worn mesh bands before. After a few months, it soaks up sweat and whatnot and can get pretty smelly. Eventually you need to wash or replace these critters, especially if you wear it while working. The Timex back says it is water resistant to 100 meters (300 feet). I hope this is true; my last (non-Timex) watch leaked like a sieve despite the water resistant claim. I'll update if I ever have a problem. This is a good, affordable and lightweight watch; just what I was looking for. -------------------------------------- UPDATE! O.K., I've been wearing this watch occasionally for the last couple of weeks and the watch crystal has already collected several scratches. I haven't even been particularly active; the Timex watch crystal is made of very soft plastic. Also, the battery died within ONE month! Easily replaced, but still . . . Removing one star.

I like the nylon strap.
Watch itself is fine - doesn't stand out as something spectacular but is great for what it is. Definitely waterproof to about 30 feet deep - I've tested it snorkeling. The best thing is the strap - this nylon strap is much more comfortable than usual watch straps. There are a lot of nylon straps out there -- I think I prefer this one more than most of the others. the Velcro allows infinite adjustment, unlike straps with holes like a belt. And the way they did the looping of the band around itself seems to work really well. Better than another velcro strap I had many years ago ("the band") which was similar but didn't loop around itself the same way. This one is better - quicker and easier to put on and more easily adjustable.

I like this one the best for daily wear
Of all the watches I've tried, I like this one the best for daily wear. It's just plain comfortable -- light in weight, easy to read face with high contrast, and the Velcro cloth strap makes it easy to put on and remove. The cloth strap also vents any moisture, unlike rubber or plastic straps. My only wish is to have a digital display of the time and date because the little date window is too small for me to read and I like to read what day it is, at times. I do like the simple facial design, however, and the sweep second hand. It keeps great time and its other plusses make up for my only wish. The price is right, too. If you're a senior as I am, this makes a practical daily time piece that you can see. I was so pleased that I bought a spare. Oh, and it's water resistant enough for light submersion, but not a diving watch. The Indiglo backlight works easily with a push of the crown. My top choice thus far, and I have tried many watches.

Decent watch, bad warranty.
Decent watch, good design, solid strap. Bad warranty. I spent a little bit more money to get a better quality product with a name brand warranty, and I feel like it was a waste of money. The backlight stopped working within 6 months. I replaced the battery, but it didn't help. I started the process of a warranty repair with Timex, but then found out they have a $8 fee for in-warranty repair. With the cost of the watch being what it is, I'll just deal with the broken backlight. Next time I'll spend less money on cheap disposable non-brand name watches

Inexpensive Box Checker That Works Great!
Although I have a few watches I was looking for something that was more camping specific. Something that was EASILY legible to my 56 year old vision - both in daytime and night. I needed it to have some waterproofness ability as I would also using it for kayaking. I had a Timex Expedition watch with a black dial that I gave to my son as I wanted one with a white face which I find easier to read. I gave this watch some serious consideration after seeing so many YTbers give Timex field watches the thumbs up. I came upon this model and then when I saw one available under $30 it became a no-brainer! I used it recently for its intended purpose - a 3 day camping weekend. So here are my observations. The strap is probably the only negative to the watch for me as I have big hands and need to undo it completely to feed the strap through the buckle. A minor hindrance. Once its on it's light and comfortable. I may eventually change out the strap...or I may not. The watch is easily legible and nothing, I MEAN NOTHING, beats Timex's "Indiglo" feature for nighttime. Forget "watch lume" as nothing is a visibly legible at nights as "Indiglo". I have a Casio watch that has a light feature but that cannot hold a candle to this watch's nighttime ability. On a kayak trip, I overturned the kayak and the watch was in the water so it held up nicely for that. The watch is rated for 100M so that was nothing for it I know. It's hard to find a watch that does so much at this price point. I would definitely recommend it for someone looking for the features that it has in an inexpensive package.
