It is very easy to use; it is a high quality, well made appliance, I could hardly hear it working, it runs so quietly. The finished product of the crush mode, (which is what I use) was some dark, small amount of dry material which is easily poured into another collection container, awaiting my using it outside on my plants. This is a great little machine. I followed the directions for what to add, and used the "crush" feature first. Within 4 hours, the machine heated, crushed, and reduced the veg/coffee ground/eggshell mixture into a nice dark dirt. The bin side reduced the veg matter from a full bucket to about a 1/4. So efficient! It's quiet and odor-free. I'm trying the "ferment" cycle next, and putting the results in a giant tub to use for the garden in spring. I've been researching these table-top machines for a while, and I'm so happy with the Oauken composter.

My previous one from amazon broke down, so I decided to get this one! It is compact enough to sit on the counter without taking over the space, but still holds a good amount of daily scraps like vegetable peels, coffee grounds, and small leftovers. The different modes are straightforward to use, and a full cycle finishes within a few hours, turning the scraps into dry, crumbly material that is easy to toss into plants or the yard. I recommend running it overnight. Noise has been surprisingly low, to the point where it can run in the background in the evening without being disruptive, and there has not been any noticeable odor while it is working. Agreed with other reviews on this. For a simple way to reduce food waste and feel a bit better about what is leaving the kitchen, I recommend!

It is amazing to me how well this product works. First of all it’s VERY quiet. You hardly notice it (I was sitting nearby). I had started it in the evening and when I got up the next morning it was done crushing. The consistency of the end product was a bit coarse and a little stringy but it was dry and greatly reduced in size. I was very pleased. I had started out w/about the bucket being slightly more than half full of scraps and ended up w/less than 2 cups of “compost”. I have not yet tried the “ferment” cycle as I’m not yet in need of actual fertilizer. The only downside was the “earthy” smell as it was crushing the scraps. So I have moved the composter farther away from where I tend to sit and that will no longer be an issue. I think this product works very well and I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Have had the Quaken Electric Composter for a one week. The unit performs the composting function very well, however I must say the charcoal filtration system does not provide odor free processing. We have tried various smelly foods to see how it does i.e. onions, fish, eggs etc. In all cases during the crush & fermentation cycles, but particularly cooked fish scrapes (mixed with other vegetables), the kitchen, and ultimately the rest of our home, definitely smelt of fish, not exactly pleasant. Definitely required us to open windows etc. Other batches of items have had unpleasant odors as well. The manual does not provide any information on charcoal replacement other than to say charcoal pellets must be 4mm or greater. Activated carbon replacement seems simple enough (no instructions in manual of how to complete replacement) hope it helps! Unit is very easy to clean, quiet during operation, holds plenty of food scrapes, and has a small footprint.

It works nicely, with decent temp and blender power, great odor and noise control. It's sturdy and well built. I am liking it, compared to other e-composters I have used.

I actually use this compost bin in my shower, and it works amazingly! It’s the perfect size, very sturdy, and doesn’t rust or hold any odor. The lid fits tightly, and the handle makes it super easy to move around when cleaning. I love how simple and stylish it looks it matches my bathroom décor perfectly. Definitely a great find that can be used in different ways around the house!

This little machine is amazing! It is super quiet, gets the job done, and the dirt is dry and ready to use. Very easy to clean! Still wondering the amount of energy it uses.
