Bury the valves.
Used these to replace my above ground valves. Buried the lines and the box. Way cleaner. They are hooked up to my rainbird controller.

High quality sprinkler valve
I have 2 sets of 4 of the Rain Bird sprinkler valves and the Rain Bird flow back valve. The units are made well and should last me a long time. I gave them a 4 start with a 2 star for install due to the wires. The instructions state to wire the Common into the common lug of your control. The issue being that no place on the body, the wires nor even in the metal of the wire do they indicate common. Now if they have changed the internal board to allow either wire to act as the common fantastic. But they should indicate that both in the instructions and on the unit. For my system as depicted in the pictures, the left wire is Common for all my valves and Anti-siphon valve and it works just fine. But it should not be left up to the end user to question which wire is which.

Made a Z-wave controlled valve using this
Utilizing this valve to control some soaker hose I have in a garden bed. I got threaded fittings to go from the npt thread to garden hose thread and affixed unit to my hose bib. Then ran a length of hose out to gardens bed where it connects to soaker hose. Bought a 24vac transformer that plugged into a zwave controlled outlet, ran some thermostat wire from transformer to valves, water proof wired nuts and viola! I have a zwave controlled valve so I can water plants remotely and even setup a timed scene. I do need to keep hose bib on but that's not a big deal. I do want to get a backflow preventer installed for the hose bib. But valve has been working great so far (2 months now) and I like how I can adjust flow on valve.

Compact and very effecient!
I have used irrigation valves for years, and never thought about an inline valves until this valve showed up. Setting up a manifold was very easy, and if aesthetics are important, these valves looks great. The only caution is that you need to buy a backflow device seperately, because these valves don't have one.
